I was trying to find the dates for when Buck changed from fiber spacers to micarta spacers on the two line Buck knives when I came across the photos. I imagine your aware of the BLADES FORUMS site. I'm not a member there but they seem to have an active Buck Knife section. Just randomly searching various knife related things this forum seems to comes up a lot.

I picked up a black handled one last year at SMKW for $10.99. I liked it so much I purchased 2 more this year for $14.99 with the viper handle. One for my son and one for me. ::tu::

Very nice! I like it as it's one of the few solid color non-black Bantams that exist. I'm only familiar with the orange 285 that's a Cabela's SFO (and after close to a year of seeing them without an explanation of what they were, but a high price for $25-30; got mine on sale from Cabela's right after Christmas with the Nano Bantam for $10 total). I've been hoping Tractor Supply starts selling the 283/285 combo again, but going with red instead of the standard black like they did in 2019. I'm very surprised there have been no Buck TSC exclusives, when Case has done multiple.

My only problem is the price. The going price for a 284 from Buck is about $20 for black $25 for those with camo wraps. The regular price from both Cabela's and Tractor Supply on the 283/285 combo packs was $20. But, the Colt version is $40; and differs only in the color of the handle and the Colt etch.

The Bantams are great knives. I like the ergonomics much better than the Ranger and Hunter Slim Select. I've even gotten used to the tip-down clips on the 285. The 284 is just right, but doesn't have a clip. Not that I mind.

Got the 703 and 704 a couple years back to replace one I had as a kid. I carried that knife longer than any other as a kid without losing it until it finally disappeared later in life. They sure are fine knives. Glad to see others here are fond of those particular knives as well.
Those are the last Bucks I've purchased but they got the pocket knife addiction started now I can't stop.

No, it was a much older company started in the 1850s, and they made woodworking tools. I have some of their chisels that I inherited from my great-grandfather.

Any idea how old the hammer might be? I was wondering who made it, I have never seen any other Buck tools before.

This link has a history of Buck Brothers, not to be confused with Buck Knives. In the early 1950s Buck Brothers was acquired by Great Neck Saws.

Just got a mint Buck 322 Congress, made in 1995 by Camillus for Smokey Mountain Knife Works. It's a great knife, but I think I know why they didn't make more of them... There is no room to place the fingernail nicks in an advantageous position. The spay blade is almost impossible to open because the nick is choked way down on the blade, and you have to open all the other blades to get a good grip on it. I killed the nails on three fingers trying to get it open.

Just picked this Al Buck Commemorative Buck 110 Custom at a pawn shop today.
The 110 and 112 are great knives to have for just about any occasion.

I bought this 110 in 1993 and gave it to my brother who never used it. He recently gave it back to me, so I gave him a 112 Slim Select. I started carrying it to work about a month ago and now I can't go without it.

Gerard, I can empathize with you. They are a fine, fine knife and they don't break the bank when you add one to your pile. ::tu::
