The 12 mm revolver sounds interesting Charlie. Almost 50 cal with a 1 inch barrel. Could hurt you night vision.

I'd be real reluctant to try any ammo made in this century or the last in this thing ::uc::

According to the wiki, pinfire cartridges were a French invention in the early 1800's and were superceded with the advent of modern rimfire and centerfire ammo that we know today. Used in the American Civil War according to them.

Well it can live here for a bit.

steve99f wrote:Anyone know anything about pin fires? I have this old S X S 2 shooter. Hinged action hammer gun. No markings I can find anywhere on it. Probably European. Approx 10/11 mm caliber. Seems to be all there. Interested in any opinions about value too. Received as a gift, not interested in shooting this if ammo could be found. I have no attachment to this so make an offer if interested.
...steve, that's a real treasure!!!...also looks like it would be good for breaking up a card game!!!!.... ::tu:: ...........

Talk about old school ken, nice carry gear. Classics each.

Maybe its mother thinks its a treasure carmillus. Talk about card game guns, I've always had an itch for one of those Remington over/under derringer's. Haven't held one though let alone fired one.

So, if I follow current events accurately, now that all States must recognize the marriage licenses of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender couples, as ordered by the Supreme Court and the incarceration of a County Clerk for not doing so, will ALL States now be forced to recognize my Alabama Concealed Carry permit and will they put in jail any Law Enforcement Officer that refuses to do so?

And when this particular argument happens to be won in the Supreme Court, can I emblazon the National Rifle Association's logo in bright red, white and blue lights across the façade of The White House?

Didn't think so.

I just bought another good ol JM stamped Marlin model 60 for my oldest boy. He can shoot it like a champ. For an inexpensive .22 them darn things are boringly accurate.

I hope yours gets fixed!

Big Monk,
That's a nice looking Remington. Please understand, I'm not being critical, but for me those "see through mounts" would have to go. I know the theory behind them, but they put your head up in the air trying to see through the glass, ruins the "spot weld" that we all learned in the service (just my strong opinion about those type scope mounts  ).
The 788 was an embarrassment to Remington when they came out. It seems the lock time on these inexpensive bolt guns was quicker than the lock time of the 700.
Years ago I traded for a new 788 in .243, it has the 18" bbl. Had it laid back in a closet when our son was getting interested in deer hunting. He proceeded to kill a little 4 point with it using the factory iron sights. Easy choice for his Christmas gift that year, a scope for his 788. He killed several deer with it before he went to college. I still have the little gem and I used it one year when I had a "perceived" problem with my old 30-06 700. I wouldn't hesitate to buy or trade for another 788 if one happened to show up ::nod:: . After killing several deer with the 788 .243, my family bought me a 700 in .243 for Father's Day many moons ago.
I hope you'll really enjoy your "new" 788 and are able to bust ol' Bambi with it!
Here's a picture of our little man back in 1987 with his 788 and his 4 point, he was 9 years old.
