Floyd, I've never used a blade like the center one on Quick Steel's pretty green Cooperhead. Is it sharpened like a regular blade? That would be a good working deer knife as you said. My old Queen #39 has a Milwaukee sawzall close by when we get down to bone cuttin' time.

Philip that middle blade is not sharp on the end but kinda rounded. After the first cut you slide that under the hide and the sharp part below it cuts as you slide up. At least that is the way I think it works. But then again I'm no expert on knives or deer skinning. ::shrug::

QS that is a svelte little trapper. I like that look. ::tu::
I got these two from the AAPK store, the first from Dale (orvet) and the 2nd from Phil and Vicki (All Archway Cutlery). The first is a Navy General Utility knife and I wonder if the 2nd is not also. From Dale a PAL Blade co and from P&V an Imperial. Both have wonderful bones, both are tight, great snap and although used in great condition. The Navy sure got it right with this knife. This makes three of these little knives that I have and if I could only have one knife, if it wasn't a 72, it would be these three. If you haven't guessed I really like these knives a lot. ::nod::

Beautiful bone covers, E/Os, bails...I can easily understand why these are favorites. Surely one of the most practical patterns ever developed.

Those are some fine looking old EZ opens. Fill us in on them being Navy knives. I've got a couple of them but seems they are missing the bail/shackle. The Pal makes me drool. ::drool::

ADDITIONAL INFO: This is another classic pattern from World War II. You will find pictures of this pattern on page 65 of Mike Silvey’s book; Pocket Knives of the United States Military, and the description on page 66. The beautiful Roger’s bone handles ceased being made sometime in the early 1960s. I didn’t clean this knife, and then make sure the blade well wasn’t full of pocket lint. If you would like it sharpened before I mail it to you, please let me know, and I will sharpen it at no charge. Quoted from Dale's sale page.
Philip, Roland was the first to call it that in my first one, a Camillus, then I saw this one on Dales store and the above is the quote he gives about it.
I wouldn't make the claim that these are WW2 but at least that's the title given them. I saw a couple on ebay listed like this too. Don't know who all made them or how many but they sure are neat little knives. Thanks for asking, wish I knew more. ::handshake::

ADDITIONAL INFO: The Navy General Utility Knife was made by a variety of companies during World War II including; Utica, Pal, Imperial, and probably Kingston, (a joint operation between Imperial and Ulster knife companies – see Pocket Knives of the United States Military by Michael Silvey; page 65 & 66). It amazes me that these knives with this beautiful Rogers bone word general issue item. Today I think they are among some of the most beautiful knife handles ever made!
Another quote from Dale on a different knife already sold. He doesn't mention Camillus though.

Thanks dog. Perhaps a minor point, but I like the fact that it is always easy to see the green on BD's bone.
