All About Pocket Knives

Some sun on this Bald head would have made for a decent pic, but it is foggy and snowy here. I have also been seeing quite a few Hawks every day, here are 2 Red Tailed.

Activity at the feeders is good, but pretty much same ol', same ol'. Tho I did have a couple of Bluebirds today.

I see Eagles 4 or 5 times a week on my driving route and occasionally one will perch in a large tree, across a field from my backyard.

Been missing the turkeys bighomer. They still come around? Or are they a seasonal typ visitor?

As the Crow (or Eagle) flies, about 30 miles. I see permanent residents around where I live, but they Winter by the hundreds, a little North of St Louis, near the confluence of the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers. I hope to make it up that way one weekend this month. Hopefully, I can get some decent pictures.

Have not take a photo of them lately the last few mornings I have had 6 ole toms visiting. Early on new years day it was raining and they put on quite the show after they ate their fill. They stretched their wings, strutted and did the full bloom thing. Pretty impressive. Luckily this feller is coming about every day, came yestiddy morning and again in the late afternoon.

I found this picture slightly humorous. I will put chunks of suet in nooks and crannies of my trees, as well as the wire suet feeders. I would think that the beak of a Cardinal would prohibit it from feeding at the wire feeders, however, this bird found some suet I had put in a hollow spot in a Red Bud tree.

Thought I'd throw these into the mix;taken last summer.The thistle came up in a plant pot that was left by the back door and the hummer found it as soon as it opened up.I was sitting in the car waiting for my wife when he(she)arrived on the scene. Luckily I had my camera with me.

Titmice like suet. And so do Mockingbirds. A small group of Ruby-Crowned Kinglets came thru this morning. High up in the trees.

Sure appreciate everyone who is taking the time not only to snap a pic, but to make a post with that pic.

Blue birds like suet it seems as well as popcorn the mocking was eating popcorn also,along with Sparrows and others.

QS Couldn't tell you the last time I had a Mockingbird in my yard.

BH I have about come to the conclusion that the Pileated is a fake, that it is some plush dog toy that your wife bought at TSC. You take it out every day and reposition it for pictures, am I right?

#1 Kind of hard to see(shot with my trusty "Fred Flintstone Flip Fon)but those are all sandhill cranes(about a hundred of them)
#2 Swans(and other birds)on the pond just before the dam at the end of our street.
#3 & #4 A nest of robins that took up residence atop my outdoor shop light.
#5 Not sure what this tiny little bird is(a wren maybe?)but she was feeding her brood inside the house.
#6 I call this one:"Where's da worms?"
#7 Couldn't resist putting this one in.Not my creation I found it on the 'net.

You've found me out. I can't believe that he comes almost everyday and he eats his fill too. He was working on a new suet cake yestiddy and he done away with about of a quarter of it, now some was flying in all directions and the little birds was enjoying the spillage.
There must have been 25 goldfinches out this morning. And a flicker dug it the yard for 10 or 15 minutes.

Very cool photos, Homer. Seems like you are the woodpecker man! Lots of activity at our feeder this week - I need to get some photos.

bh I love your photo's especially that first one with the two pictured. Thanks for sharing your back yard. I get to enjoy it and do none of the work.
