Mr. gsmith, that is some beautiful bone on that Beaver Tail but that little StaSharp is the one that captures my eyes and heart. Great pick ups.

Why thank you doglegg! It is a pickup from our mutual friend kootenayjoe and I will detail it in another thread. The GEC is also from Roland. He does have a fine eye for knives.doglegg wrote:Mr. gsmith, that is some beautiful bone on that Beaver Tail but that little StaSharp is the one that captures my eyes and heart. Great pick ups.![]()

Jon, I love that pattern and that is a great knife. I have one but not in red. Great pick up.Jporter1974 wrote:Sweet knives gsmith, I was going to say how much I like those swell center knives..but, I like a wharncliff just as much..especially an empire!..this is my first gec and I really like it..I'd been looking for a rooster comb for a while and the cut co made me want another..I spied this one and couldn't pass it up..~Jon
Kulrich, a couple of awesome pick ups. Good luck on that third one.Kulrich wrote:Just got these this week. They are prototypes made for J Russell Green River Works in 1977. The etching is done by Aurum Etchings. Per Sam Shortes of Aurum Etchings there were less than six made of each knife and there was no production run made. Sam Shortes stated that these were utility knives and the collector market was not there for this type of knife. I think there might be a third one out there on the Hunter model. There was a set of three made by Russell in 1976 (Dadley, Buffalo Skinner and Hunter) to commemorate the Bicentennial and "The Knives that Won the West", these two came in the 1976 individual boxes.
That there is a saturday to remember. Wish I'd have a day like that, wouldn't have to be a saturday either any day of the week would be fine.Jporter1974 wrote:Nice cattle rotten, here's my Saturday..some mail and some local..~ jp
What knife are you talking about? Is it Jon's 863?richard wrote:all the blades have been ground down, no tip on the main blade, tobacco blade half size, the other sharpened as to a point.
are the scales delrin or bone?
stiil a nice EDC if the price was right?
That looks like an ulster main blade from their version of the 863. Same knife essentially, both were made in the same ellenville factory. That could explain why it's not stamped since it's in schrade clothing.Jporter1974 wrote:I know..believe me, I know..that's what is called a itchy trigger finger..it's an 863 from the bay, with what appears to be the tang buffed slap off of it..

Nice ones, bigbore. I have the same S&M with a spear blade and I really like that knife. It is almost too pretty to carry.bigbore wrote:New S&M Heritage Rosewood Spearpoint

Was that half dollar part of your pick up stuff. I have never found one that I could pull the trigger on. Great knives and great coin.bigbore wrote:New S&M Heritage Rosewood Spearpoint
