I picked up this 72 for a whopping $1.95! Got burned real bad too.... ::tu:: The sellers pics made the handles look like bone, so I thought what the heck, might as well buy it! Turned out to be Delrin. The best looking Delrin I have ever looked at close up! I wanted some bone handles for a future project but what the hey! Guess I'll sharpen her up and stick her in my pocket! Blades have a lot of wear on em' but still have some life left!

I picked another rimfire because it was cheaper than the first. But its different no blade etch and notice the different secondary blade placement?

This is the one I'm waiting for. What gives? ::shrug:: I dont have the knife yet. I was looking at the picture of it and just noticed that the coping blade is on the other end... Hmmm. Any ideas?

This is the one I have already.

Yep, that's the third blade change (or forth or fifth if you count removing the saber grind from one side of the main and then removing it entirely later on) in the life of the 72. That happened during the last few years of the company. That knife was probably made near the very end when they were trying to conserve money and using what ever they could get their hands on to make knives. (Not based on fact. Just my guess at what was happening from the knives I've seen.)
Camillus_72_Backwards_blades.JPG
And then there's this unfinished Harley-Davidson with a serrated small clip blade. ::shrug::
Harley-Davidson (Camillus) HD-21 - 1999 Unfinished - Open Mark.JPG
If that's not enough for you. There's this one with the swapped blades and a main blade that was meant for a Stanley SL-6. It has Stanley ground off the mark side of the tang and Camillus etched on but still has SL-6 stamped on the back. It also has those funky later years "kinda like Indian Stag handles but really more like worm grooved" and a round shield like they used on the Remington's only it says Camillus. ::uc:: . ::facepalm::

Nope. Still looking for a Cussin and Fearn Hardware and a Hibbard Spencer True Value, plus Lord only knows how many others I've never heard of. That Trustworthy Hardware is one I've only seen the one I have so there must be others. ::shrug::

Tommy if it wasn't for you, there are several others I would be looking for and be much poorer for the ones I found. Thank you my friend for your gracious generosity.

At least you have one. I missed one on eBay one night several years ago. Was jacking my jaws on the phone with Linnea and it slipped my mind it was going out soon. Haven't seen another since.

Well I had a couple of 72s that needed scales. One is a regular and the other one well it is a Boy Scout knife. I finished the Scout knife tonight and I could not wait to put it on. I should finish the other one tomorrow and I will post it also. The scout shield was a booger to inlay. I am happy with it let me know what you guys think.

It came out nice, real nice.

I have it's twin. My mom bought it at the BoyScout store almost 40 years ago. It was my second knife ever, and my favorite for a long time. Mine has patina and lots of honest wear, but is still a great whittling knife.

Thanks eveled. Did yours look like this one below? I will be posting the other rehandle 72 later today I hope. I have a few 72s but only a couple needed scales as the plastic ones had shrunk and cracked. Thanks Greg I appreciate the encouragement. ::handshake::
