FWIW I’ll recommend Victor Senior Healthy Weight dog food https://victorpetfood.com/products/seni ... thy-weight. I’ve fed it to my dogs for years after they turn 7 years old. They’re Labs, so they’ll always eat more if you let them :lol: so I measure out their portion. They stay healthy but trim and the vet compliments them in their weight. It’s highly recommended by dog food reviewers, but reasonably priced also.

Ryan your bond with Layla sounds just like my bond with my Girl Scout, our golden retriever. I spoil her something awful.
Here is a picture of my two girls playing with each other. They have a very close bond as well. Bristol is the one on the bottom. They play like this face to face every day. Right now I wish they weren’t playing like this, Bristol has giardia again. This is our third round of this parasite. She came to us from the shelter with it. Last year we were cleaning the house, beddings, food dishes, water dishes daily. Plus removing her poop from the yard every time she went, it’s a nightmare to deal with.

Fine looking pup mark. ::tu::
Sissy is kinda frustrated because we cut back on her groceries a little, so she's beating the tar out of her purple pig, must be his fault. ::super_happy::

She finally settled down though.

Had to take a picture of Scout being loved on by the only outdoor cat we have named Stella. She showed up one day about 7 years ago and adopted us. We suspected that she belonged to our neighbor the farmer, he is known for having a lot of barn cats. We took care of her and made a “cat house”, not that kind of “cat house”, lined it with styrofoam and put an outdoor heating pad in there for her. Plus a heated outdoor water bowl. She has survived 7 winters with us and has totally claimed us and the dogs. A few months after it became clear she wasn’t going to go home, we scheduled a vet visit since she had an injury on her side from a cat fight. The day we were going to take her she showed up with the area shaved and stitched, someone else took her to be looked after, never knew who or if they missed this cat. She seemed to spend a lot of time somewhere else but always came back. Now she mainly stays here and we look after her. We named her Stella because she is so loud. She has a very high volume meow. It reminded us of Elaine on Seinfeld when she was hopped up on pain pills yelling “Stella!,Stella!”
Stella wanted attention and Scout was outside long enough for Stella to rub on her for about 15 minutes. Scout looks a bit pleading in these photos, like she wants rescued from this cat. She does have a bad habit of swatting at the dogs when the go past her to come in the house. All of our dogs need an escort past her from time to time.

My wife decorated for Christmas and of course Jack had to get in the middle of it all. Why do cat’s think they own everything in the house?

It’s what cats do! :lol: One that has adopted us is the most curious critter ever. When I’m out working she wants to be right in the middle of it, trying to see what it is I’m doing. She and the dogs follow me everywhere. When I start working on something the dogs typically just lie down and watch, but she has to get right in the middle of it.

Speaking of cats, here’s a picture of a tomcat that lives in our barn. He’s semi-wild. Wants to be around people but won’t let anyone catch him. As you can see he’s well camouflaged. The grandkids have named him “Dude”. Click to enlarge and see him better.

And I with my cat,
Had just settled down,
For a long Winter's nap . . .

Coming in from a little shopping trip Joy got a message from our son with a couple of pictures. The picture was of his Basset hound, Baxter as a pup and then a more recent one as an old hound. The message said, "I had to bury my old buddy today." So sad for us.

Blessings in disguise, the youngest grandson spent the night with an aunt and was not home when our son found him this morning. Died in his sleep, must have just run out gas.

Philip, sorry to hear this regarding Baxter. You’re right about the blessing in disguise! It’s hard losing a family pet though. Had to do that with my buddy in August. By the way ,sister in laws dogs name is Baxter as well. Take care down there . ::handshake::

Sorry to hear of the loss of a family member, like Baxter. I know it's little consolation...but; I'd feel blessed, when the time comes, if our pup were to pass in his sleep. I know Baxter had a good time, with y'all.
