The case was posted as a " back-pocket " with a starting bid of 40 or best offer, I contacted the seller and asked what they wanted for it a I was told 60 and I couldn't type fast enough.

I knew what it was immediately, but I didn't feel like it was my responsibility to tell someone how to price their merchandise..

I asked someone close to me their thoughts on the purchase and we discussed the whole Ebay monster.. You have to move quickly and you must be able to not to be lured by the counterfeits and frankensteins,worn-out rollovers or new listings by shady dealers, and while doing all of that you are looking for that great deal.. That is the object on Ebay..isn't it? What are your thoughts???~JP
You don’t suppose it was stolen do you? That might explain why the seller didn’t recognize what he had. Anyone that paid over 300 dollars for a knife doesn’t knowingly sell it for 60 bucks. But drug addicts who just want money won’t take the time to research and find out what these knives go for.
I know, a drug addict in our family stole a knife from me. He didn’t want it he wanted the money to buy more drugs. I guarantee you that he didn’t look it up to see what it was worth before he sold it or traded if for his drug of choice.
In this day and age this would be a pretty common problem.

Nice pick ups, all of them. I was wondering where that little cut co would end up, it looks to be a 7663. Not a common pattern especially with the flat bolsters.

Definitely not stolen unless you consider 60 bucks plus shipping as the steal...drug addicts may do messed up stuff, but the people who take advantage of their problems are usually smart enough to not do pawn shops or Internet. Now divorces, widows and women can be oblivious to the prices of knives-SSK.__ Paul, I have a schrade book and I'm having a little trouble with the pattern numbers on the cut co knives. Here is the pattern and I have a picture of what I found that is similar, but the numbers aren't the same. Any help would be appreciated ~jp

I have seen a few cuts with numbers stamped like yours, I have no idea what they mean and they don't correlate with the pattern number as far as I know. Most cuts don't have anything stamped on the reverse side and I've never seen any with the pattern number stamped.
You ought to post it in the schrade section, one of the more knowledgeable folks there could probably tell you more about what the numbers are for.

kootenay joe wrote:Here is an odd assortment of 3 knives, all older, all brand new, which are being sold by a very large ebay knife dealer (eprague).
2 3/4" Parker "Collector Series" lock back
2 3/4" Parker bone lobster knife
and a 5" C.I. steel lock back with handle inlay.
C.I. is "Compass Industries". They had knives made in Japan in 1980's ? They are good knives, not Moki level, but usually better than average from Japan at that time. This big 5" folder is rather odd but is strong and hair poppin' sharp. Kind of knife that could last a lifetime. For $12, an excellent deal.
kj
KJ, The C.I.knives I have owned in the past were all very high quality, not up to Moki standards as you say, but they are very good. Those are all nice old knives.
The quality of these 80’s Japan made knives is amazing compared to the cost. I wonder if the market place will every bring cost and value more in line some day?

Floyd, do you have a Buck Spitfire? Not necessarily a Blue Line but an everyday 722 Spitfire or a 721 Slimline?

None of the above. Jerry I have only owned a couple of Bucks in my life. Lost one in the early 80's and gave one to my brother in law and grace last year.
