She ate like a little pig at breakfast after not having much appetite yestiddy. She not draining as much as she was, so I'm hoping the healing has begun in earnest. If spoiling will cure her I can provide that.
How this could be comfortable I can't see but she likes to use this ole brick hearth for a pillow.20201129_102852.jpg
Thanks again for the concern, thoughts and prayers. ::handshake::
Dogs are very smart, and i would suspect the brick hearth she uses as a pillow to keep her head raised, this would stop her muscles stretching, which i would think would be extremely uncomfortable for her at the moment. ::handshake::

Well, my 15 month old cattle dog aka Blue Heeler, Pepper, has decided to start napping on the sofa by taking up residence between my mother's legs and the sofa back. She's a very sweet dog but she's got a lot of demon in her - loves to chew on "stuff" - no shoes or furniture, but she does go after envelopes, toilet paper, etc.

12086

She is the largest cattle dog I've ever had - not the heaviest, as she is only about 46# but her legs, neck and body are longer than any cattle dog I've had. She can put her head onto the cabinets and rolling bar when she stands on her hind legs. I'm trying to break her of that. She has stolen tomatoes, carrots, and a roll of pie dough off the cabinets. Based on her coloration and measurements, I'm figuring that more dalmation is coming out in this Blue Heeler, rather than the dingo of the Red Heeler or typical Blue Heeler Blue Merle Collie traits.

With the first freeze of the season coming in, I went out and did the final harvest off the fall garden - tomatoes, bell peppers, Tepin peppers and okra. The okra wasn't much as I harvest those daily - the take was 6 little dinky 1/2" to 2-1/2" pods.

I gleaned over 35# of Celebrity, Better Boy and Roma tomatoes, 8-1/2# of bell peppers in various stages of ripeness and 13 ounces of Tepins.

12084

After giving my brother, B-in-L and nephew large sacks of the produce after this morning's deer hunting session, I laid out the remaining green tomatoes on the treadmill to ripen over time. They won't taste as good as vine ripened, but they'll still be better than store bought. A while back I had a bumper fall crop and the week of Thanksgiving that year I pulled in 13 5 gallon buckets of green tomatoes. The last of them ripened to eating stage in MARCH.

12085

And here is the final take on my Chili Tepins. Tepins are extremely hot native peppers, the ancestor of all peppers of the Americas. They can range from 50K to over 160K on the Svoville Heat Index, depending on the environmental conditions under which they were grown. Green ones are hotter than ripe ones. It takes 70 to 100 tepins to make an ounce of peppers. The spring peppers tend to be pencil eraser sized while the fall ones tend to average smaller.

Other names for the Tepin is Chiltepin, Turkey Peppers, Bird's Eye Peppers and Bird Peppers - Turkey because native turkeys love them, Bird's Eye because they are about the size of a bird's eye, Bird because birds in general love them. The primary method of new plant distribution is via birds eating them and pooping out seeds.

They ARE NOT Chili Pequins. Pequins are different variety altogether. The stem and leaf structure is different and the heat of a pequin is different from that of a tepin. 50K-160K vs 35K to 50K on heatness. The tepin heat is intense but short-lived. Pequin heat is not as intense but is drawn out in duration. The tepin is round to kind oval and the pequin is oval with a point and nearly 3x the size of a tepin.

A picture of pequins for reference - snitched from the internet since I don't grow pequins.

BH I'm sure glad Sissy is making good progress in her recovery. Griffin has gotten over his issues and is back to eating like a little pig and always begging for one of his treats. Right now he is spending a lot of time near Vera, my mother in law, because I think he can sense that she is not feeling well. He is a great comfort to her. :D

Good work ZZ! We had our first frost here last week and I did the same thing. We put the green tomatoes in paper bags and store them in the pantry, checking every few days to pull out those that have ripened. We will have ripe tomatoes for Christmas dinner!

Well, SOMEONE, who will remain nameless, seems to be unable to remember to change the thread he is posting in. ::dang:: ::dang::

Since my dog has turned into a couch tater, those must be counter peppers and tomatoes.
