I agree 100%. The first time I saw it was a few years ago as I was driving the Great River Road along the Mississippi. I was headed North, and a Southbound train on the tracks adjacent to the road went by with the locos adorned in that paint scheme. I immediately reversed direction and followed alongside for 10 miles or so.
Interesting picture, John, I had forgotten about that look for Amtrak. Actually, my uncle told me when, my dad and him where in there late teens they hopped trains from Vincennes Indiana t9 Houston Texas..stayed a week doing odd jobs and came back the same way..at least that is what my uncle told me.
