Here's one that I pulled out this morning to ooh and ahh over while I was picking out a carry knife foe the day. It wad a gift from a friend some years ago, the details escape me at the moment, but it's obviously a knapped blade with antler handle. Quite well made and rather a cool piece.

Today I decided to pull out this American Shear & Knife Co. 4 and 1/4" whittler, "Just Because".

This is a very interesting example Mike.

One I personally have not seen before.

It looks like somethin' a caveman would use!

I love the swell-center matched with the dual bolsters.

I immediately imagined it with just the big spear-point and not the 2 pen blades.

I rescued the whittler out of a pawn shop junk box. It had a lot of rust pitting on the blades, but is tight and sharp. The ebony still looks good too. Something about the character of an old knife like that.

Mike, many knives of this ancient type are made with blades of obsidian. 'I'm thinking your blade is likely the same material, i.e. volcanic glass. Do you have other information?

Utterly gorgeous fixer Garry.

The scrim is so clean and clear.

Is it a sheathed knife to be hung on your belt, or a boot knife to be concealed in your boot?

I'm so glad you like it Marco. The knife is completely original. No sheath. One could arrange for a sheath to fit whatever way you wish to carry it. I do not carry it as I wish to preserve the scrim.

That would be the most unusual Spyderco knife I have ever seen Garry, and they make some unusually shaped knives.
It sure looks like a bulldog as far as using it goes.

Those are selling daily at Arizona Custom Knives, Joe, and for BIG bucks too. Never really saw the appeal personally.

They would be like taking a knife to a gun fight, only much slower to deploy.

Very cool. I like it. I have thought about getting one and then found some cheap modern knapped blades for about $15 bucks. Got one. Then found some cheap antler. Got some. Will post pics when I get around to putting them together. Keep ya posted.

Nice one, Garry. I like that blade profile.

Here is a French knife that has taken on a bit of time and was not used much according to the remaining steel on the blades.
It is a boar to open. Strong springs and tight joints and poorly struck nail nicks. Ivory covers.
