Jon, thanks for posting this pic of Waynorth #86 next to a Northfield 86. Looks like the huge shield and blade etch are the main features of the Waynorth, along with the ebony handles. Blade profile looks the same.

Yep. Also, the secondary is a pen blade instead of the sheepsfoot that is on the other 86’s. The tang stamps only say “Waynorth Cutlery” and “OIL THE JOINTS”. No other GEC markings.

Really cool knife.

Interesting to see how low the sheepsfoot spine when closed. It is no higher than the pen blade in the Waynorth 86. It was a good decision to design a narrow sheepsfoot as it makes for a more comfortable feel when using the clip blade.

My 2 favorites of the 86 run.

Gunstock Jacks just sold a few of the Waynorth Cutlery #86. Got one in the cart and went straight to PP and after i paid i got "out of stock" so payment of course did not go through. I was finished by 5:01 hours, 1 minute after the 5:00 pm drop.
I was surprised that price was $225. In the past the Waynorth knives have been about $20 more than the regular GEC.
Did anyone score here ?

I did not try as I got 2 of the Waynorth 86 Blackjacks, at initial release they were around 160.00 or so, roughly 40 bucks more than the regular run Northfields.

That price is pretty close to what they are selling for on Ebay. Can’t figure out why these late knives cost so much more? TKC usually has higher prices on the last batch of a new releases also. I thought companies and dealers had an agreement about the prices they will offer new knives for? Or is that just a minimum price?

JohnR, thanks for posting the Black Jack price.
It would be most interesting to hear from a dealer as to how GEC's are priced. I have seen other 'later releases' selling at higher prices than the initial 'batch' released a week or 2 earlier. Are dealers allowed to set their own prices ?

Got this Waynorth 86 today. The ebony looks great on this pattern.

Not my photos ::: Last night I bought my second #86 Oil Field Jack JSR Sports & More SFO Chocolate Almond Peach-seed jigged bone knife. JSR still has at least one more for sale right now.

That oversized shield with the Ebony looks really sweet, just not wild about that 4th pin.

I helped two collectors get that knife. That makes me feel great , today. The best part of knife collecting , is to help others get that dream knife without trying to make a buck.

Hopefully I have acquired the last 86 for my collection. Here are all of them. Didn’t realize that the Waynorth has a different secondary blade than all the others, had to open them all up for a shot together to notice that.

I hesitate to mention but uhhh...well, that's ALMOST all of them. The Lone Star knives, there are three of them, are also built on the #86 chassis. I'm eagerly awaiting my USS Texas model in Pine. I believe all of the smooth bone, and the one in Teak are in the wind I'm afraid.

Well let me be the first to welcome you. Glad you like the knife line up. I’m not happy with the blade open picture but it was the best of the 3 I took. Just too many knives to get into a decent picture. So many get out of focus and you lose the details. Good to hear that I am not alone in my fondness for this pattern. Please post some pictures when you get yours. I haven’t heard of the Lone Star knives, so I will be checking those out.

Good morning, and thank you for the welcome! I will have to beg off on pictures for the moment, as I'm waiting for four members of the family to arrive, so to speak. If nothing else, I'll post up a picture of my #86 collection so far, this evening. I am really glad to have found this section, as having recently gotten back into Traditionals, I've wanted to get back up to speed. I've been into the "modern" folding knife world for years, so that's what I know. I'll post up that picture this weekend. I should probably see if there's a main section to properly introduce myself!

I have had similar issues when posting groups of knives myself, you're not alone! I'll say that taking proper pictures of traditionals (especially those with nickel bolsters ) can be a pain if you don't manage the light correctly, I've learned THAT by trial and error, I tell you what.
