Thats a great looking set of table cutlery Dimitri. Does the blade say Universal on it? I have a set that does not have Universal (pre-1909) and the dying and jigging is very different. I think yours is nicer, but I will have to dig mine out and look at them.
junebug, that ZACK has really pretty jigging. I do like that style of creating little X's between the divots.

Here is one with a little story to go along with it:
This Cattaraugus 22249 jack was purchased from a good friend of mine today at the local fall festival we have here in Tecumseh every year.The knife belonged to his great grandfather Floyd Hovey.Last year I purchased Floyd's mechanics tool box he had when he worked for the Gridley Motor Car Co of Kansas City Missouri.Gridley was a Peerless dealer(a vehicle made from 1900-1931)and the box was lettered by someone,Most interesting to me anyway was the inscription inside the tool box lid(pic enclosed).Read it and think about it's meaning.
The story behind the box is that my friend had offered it free to anyone in the family who wanted it and he had no takers! So he decided to sell it at a garage sale where I bought it for $75.
And now I have Mr. Hovey's knife to go along with the box and that is where it will reside from here forward.

Thanks peanut and bIb. It has great snap and it doesn't look like the secondary blade was used. Also, I really like the look of the bone on the reverse.

That is so cool! My brother is an avid collector of Early tire Psi gauges. Just a couple days ago he showed me a picture of one of his favorites..... Perhaps it may have been in your toolbox at one point. I love the history that goes along with the items we collect. Bonehead

I noticed this new IXL addition to my farmers has the same old pick bone as this old IXL lockback for sale on eBay.MB alluded to this one in another thread.

Here are a few different jigging styles used by A. F. Bannister & Co. The last one is an OST Cutlery Co knife.

A rare one.

Just checking the jigged bone handles on your J T Mount and Bannister. I have a Cattaraugus with about the same jigging that I have always been a little leary about. Not only that, the number on the pen blade does not coincide with the actual pattern which I think should be 22399. I have heard or read some time ago that the 21489 pen blade was generic blade and I have seen it on other knives. This knife does not look like it has been tampered with.

The pivot pin is very sloppy, all the pins are visible on both sides.

these are not in the class of most here, not too many near mint but some are my favorites
the Pal easy open and the Imperial with the bail are in great shape, so surprised to fine a imperial of such quality

I found this griffon xx b'port CT at a thrift store. I've never heard of the company before but it's a neat little knife. Has anyone heard of them before or can anyone give a little background to them?
