tjmurphy,
The Camillus no 72 has been in my EDC rotation for many years, but not with such great handles...
Carry yours with pride and take good care of it!
I borrowed my son's old Red Ryder Barlow (his first pocket knife) a few days ago to take some pics for the Red Ryder thread. Haven't returned it yet, and today I have carried it - just for fun!

That Red Rider is so cool and it brings back a lot of memories from my childhood. Back then my favs were Red Rider, The French Foreign Legion with Buster Crabb and Hopalong Cassidy, among a lot of others.

Lately the one in the middle, a Queen jack vintage 1935 - 1955. The one on top is a mint Queen from 1976 that I just got from Sanders Knives and the bottom one is a Robeson which I like to carry too. I've got a new Queen pearl wharncliff on the way which I think I'll carry. I like those Queen knives.

I was but when I saw how nice it was I thought I'd keep it that way. I've been carrying the one in the middle for several weeks and I like how it feels and handles.

If I told you what I am carrying right now ~ and my favorite EDC ~ you would throw me off this forum and never speak to me again.
I have carried a knife all my life. As a boy I always carried a knife to school and yes, we traded, even with teacher's right in the hall and classroom.
As a boy most of my knives were Colonial, or Camillus. In high school it was Case or Boker. Never a Queen, the were stainless steel and no man or boy every carried a Queen.
I have carried, Fightin' Rooster, Hen & Rooster, Schrade, Boker, many German made brands. Even knives made for me by Adrian Harris when he made the Colonel Coons.
But today I am 68 years old and yes throw me off this forum...the best knife I have ever carried and I have put it out of my pocket several times and replaced it with Hen & Rooster, Case, and others but I always go back to it. It's..it's

got a thumbs down

here many times

Oh! I might as well say it and you all will get mad

at me. My favorite and EDC is a RR

Been in my pocket since 1985.......
The Puma box holds the replacement, going to retire the Kershaw to the collection. I just wish I'd bought a Puma back in the 70's when I first fell in love with them......

I for one, am not getting mad at you.
You have found a knife that you really enjoy carrying, then why not do so? It's your decision based on your needs and your experiences. Nothing to be ashamed of in my opinion. Among my users you will find knives made in several countries, China included. I value diversity and variety, and I'm not ashamed of carrying any knife that I like and that works for me.

Mark, I think Rough Rider only makes their knives with stainless steel blades. I recall someone saying their blades are made of 420-J2 stainless steel. I could be wrong cause I haven't been right except once this week. If you don't believe that just ask my wife.

If TC Tom has a Rough Rider brand knife that's made with non-stainless carbon steel blades I'd like to see it too. I agree that anyone should carry what ever knife they like. Personally, I just choose to like the USA and German made ones myself. I like anyone who carries a knife and that isn't one of those Anti-knifers or Anti-gun people.

Enjoyed reading thru this thread for the past couple months. I'm finally going to throw my two cents in.
My favorite EDC is a Joseph Rodgers stag whittler with a nail file. You would be suprised how many times I use that file to smooth a rough edge or a bur off of something. Pick that knife up at a flea market for $12
about 15 years ago.

Sunday we went on a trip to an island in the fjord just to enjoy the Spring and and make dinner outdoors.
What pocket knife to carry..?
Turkey Creek Tom's post actually inspired me to bring a Rough Rider. I haven't carried one for a while.
I ended up bringing a medium sized Stockman with brown sawcut bone handles and fluted nickel silver bolsters.
A high value collector's item? No.
Some specially formulated state of the art super steel? No.
Just a decent, easily replaceable user at a fair price. I don't remember how much I gave for it, but it was less than $15.
It's nice. I like it.
And we had a great day!
