With a knife that big you wouldn't even need to open it, just use it as a club!

Very nice Dimitri.
I have a similar set, marked the same, perfect pearl, but just scissors, no knife blades.
Sarah keeps it on the vanity in our guest bedroom.

I have the same one Charlie, no folding blades just the scissors, which cut very well.
I also have some with Ivory handles as well

Anyone have one of these?
It was a silver coin that was cut in half and made into a folding pocket knife, pretty neat!
They were also made as a commercial product with advertising, religious, and other motifs on the handles.

Nice one Dimitri! Is that one made by Eloi Pernet? They made a lot of those from the 5 franc coins.I saw one that had a small pair of scissors as a secondary blade.
The only ones I have are the sheap Imperial ones although one is kind of unique:it's shaped like a horseshoe.

Thanks! No, I don`t believe so, at least it is not marked. It is very old as the file blade has all the groves hand cut!

Yes, I have seen these as well, they seem to sell for very high prices

Made by Robeson for the Silver Jubilee of a company called Rabhor Robes, a maker of gentlemen's smoking jackets, in 1941.

This is the most unusual one I own, and only one I have seen like it.
It has a six year calendar, all you do is rotate the dials to line up the month and year and you can reset it every year for 6 years, then you need to buy a new knife! Those knife companies were pretty clever, or so they thought, not many people ever bought these or used them for that matter, too much trouble to keep setting it.
One neat thing about it is the knife is dated, not very often can you pin a date to an old knife and be absolutely certain it was made during that time, this knife is one of the exceptions.

Nice one Charlie! That's the first Robeson I've ever seen in that pattern;has to be a rare one.
Dimitri;that calendar knife is interesting as well.I have a mechanical pencil around somewhere with a similar calendar device and also an attachment for a watch band that has tiny metal calendar months inside. You have to unsnap the piece and change the page every month. Not a popular item I guess;I've never seen another.

Ray, I posted this Waltham watch in the thread in off topic, it has the attachment you are talking about, the cover comes off and you have to change the paper pages to the correct month. Only one I have ever found, and when I wear it I always get compliments on it.

yours has paper pages? The one I have has ones made of thin metal. Here is a pic of the band and a closeup of the pages. Also the mechanical pencil. To reset it you pull up slightly on the top and rotate it until the correct day and date match up and then release it.

Not sure exactly where to post this............
....but I visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City a few weeks ago and wanted to post a photo or two.
The Arms and Armour section of the Museum is absolutely incredible, thousands of pieces are displayed and it would be very easy to spend all day just in that section. I ended up visiting the MET on two different days and spent about 7 hours there total and did not get to see everything, but came pretty close. Was in NYC for 9 whole days and 10 nights, easily one of the best places I have visited......ALOT to see and very friendly folks overall.
Here is one of my favorite pieces from the MET.....hard to get very good pics because of the lighting, glass cases and other people.......
