I'm not an ivory expert like Ivoryman, but based on my experience looking at/handling hundreds (if not thousands) of ivory handled knives, I would say that B&S Jumbo Trapper is most definitely genuine Elephant Ivory. Beautiful knife. Great score!knifeaddict1965 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 12:02 am If the pictures are clear enough, I appreciate any comments you may have as to whether or not it is genuine ivory. I think I only paid like $30 a piece when I got these two a few years ago, so I'm happy with the purchase either way.
I would bet big bucks that it's ivory. Great pictures. The grain is visible in the close up on the right side top pic, and the lower scale on bottom pic. And that fissure/crack/black line is tell tale ivory from wear and tear stress fracture the Elephant put on it in life. Also, where the edge of the ivory meets the metal band it is darkened, almost greenish. That is from being next to the metal. The light doesn't get in there as well as it does in the field area and that's another dead give away. Thanks for the pics, great job, and great score on beautiful scales. You STOLE them for $30. Love seeing that. AND, those two pairs of Bose colabs you posted last are gorgeous. Great bones and patterns. Bravo.knifeaddict1965 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 12:02 am Thanks for your replies I-Man & Q! Here are a few closer shots that may help.

4 more beauties there. That to me looks like better red bone than the average Case too. I like the stamps. Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice.knifeaddict1965 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 8:16 pm Some limited edition Case Cattaraugus with red bone handles, ATS-34 blades and arrowhead shields. I think there were 250 produced in each of these 4 patterns.

Very nice bone there. And the steel. Is that stainless Damascus? Cool bunch you have. Great show.knifeaddict1965 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2022 1:05 am A couple pair of Case Hunter Green with interesting looking shiny damascus blades. I believe these knives were made for Shepherd Hills Cutlery in quantities of 100 for each pattern.

Thanks I-Man! I haven't found much on these in my limited research, but according to this information on WorthPoint, they do appear to be stainless damascus. I just found a peanut in the safe as well for a total of 5 in the hunter green stainless damascus. They all have really nice looking bone and the blades are real shiny and unique for damascus. I assume from this information that Shepherd Hills probably did a limited run of 6 or 8 different patterns.Ivoryman wrote: ↑Tue Sep 20, 2022 8:06 pmVery nice bone there. And the steel.
