So today the credit card has rolled over into another billing period and since I couldn't find the patience to wait any longer, I pulled the trigger on these two. The plain white has been on my wish list for quite some time and the other one has Case engraved on the bolster along with those Autumn Bone Deep Canyon handles which sang a siren's song to me. Too much pressure and I'm so weak.

I bought these three pocket knives today. Another Craftsman 9494 (1st two pictures), another Imperial "Deer Head" (pictures 3 & 4) and a 3 blade, swelled center, wood handles, 3 5/8" closed, "whittler" by Rite Edge (China) (last 2 pictures, the VERY last looks distorted). I bought the Rite Edge because I think it's another Camillus 72 variation. Except for a tiny crack in the handle, the Craftsman 9494 looks good. The Imperial "Deer Head" appears to be in Near Mint to Mint condition. The Rite Edge pocket knife is new in the box. I will give each one the once over. I will post MY pictures in the appropriate location(s). These pictures are the seller's.

I found this by accident and just bought this Camillus 72. I'm taking a break from purchasing 72s to pursue the variations and some other types of knives that I collect. But this one jumped out and screamed BUY ME, so I did. It isn't a first generation, it's a long line 72. Except for some cosmetic issues on the blades, this knife appears to be in fantastic condition. I'll clean it up when I receive it and post MY pictures in the appropriate location(s). These pictures, the two best of the group, are the seller's.

I just purchased another 3 blade, swelled center, 3 5/8" closed, Shrade 863 "whittler" pocket knife, my fifth. But unlike the other four, this one includes "WALDEN" on the tang stamp. My first and only, so far, Schrade "WALDEN" 863 pattern. It looks like the blades have seen some use. I'll give it the once over when I receive it. I'll post MY pictures in the appropriate location(s). These pictures are the seller's.

They're like potato chips and 07's Skip. Once you start down that path, there's no stopping.


Edit: Tuesday 11/5 - Bought a couple of Mini-Trappers from Shepherd Hills on Friday morning but didn't get a notice telling me they had shipped until Yesterday afternoon late. Tracking says Thursday delivery. As usual, I'm walking the floor in anticipation. That's about the only exercise I get these days.

Just picked up a Schrade D'Holder first production run in stag and BG 42 from Norm(ndri) out of the store. Been looking for one for awhile, looking foward to seeing how the BG 42 holds up skinning pigs. Thanks Norm!

From Scott here, a 158OT "Guthook Skinner" Been wanting to try a Schrade USA fixed blade, as I only own folders.

From eBay, a Seki-made SOG Toolclip. I've had the smaller (3 3/8) Micro Toolclip for quite some time, and it's pretty nice.

The "American Mutt" puck is for my axes and hatchets, namely my Estwing. It's made from leftover grit from manufacturing other stones--supposed to be incredibly coarse, yet leaves a semi-fine finish. Supposedly "mixed grit".
The "Arctic Fox' pocket stone is to temporarily replace my other stones until I can get the crud out and flatten them. 240/400 grit.
P38 and P51 can openers. I had a knockoff P-38 that sucked--flimsy and would not open a can. The Shelby Co. versions should be good. Bought a P51 as well, because the P38 is a little small.


And no knife--Cody are you nuts? Well, I almost just bought the stones. I do like peasant's type knives; and they had these old-stock, French-made carbon steel penknives for $4 each. Bought one--I like this size for light, around the house type chores. They have carbon steel blades, supposedly.

3-1/4” Craftsman jack with the right blades. Bought off the bay so I hope it’s properly functional. OH

I know Schrade made an equivalent of that--but I've only seen one or two. Was not aware of a Craftsman version. Sure looks like a neat pattern! Those are pretty much the only two blades I use on my 34OT--spey only gets occasional use, peeling fruit or opening mail.

Thanks Cody. I think this is a Schrade USA built Craftsman (33OT frame) whereas the one sold under the Old Timer name used the 897UH frame. The seller had three of them, all NOS, for sale on eBay last night - I only bought one of them - for $25 bucks and free shipping it was a no-brainer! OH

I received my first Orvet Custom yesterday. Great knife and addition to my collection, thanks Dale!

I think the Schrade 33OT is on the same frame as the 34OT.
Most of the Craftsman knives with "A.C.A." etch were made by Camillus.
"A.C.A." = Advanced Cutting Action, i think. Cutting Action is correct but i'm unsure of the first "A".
The Craftsman knives whether made by Camillus or Schrade are top notch. The Sears contract was huge and they were able to demand the best these companies could make.

Man, thanks Joe! I have several big (folding hunter type) Craftsman knives with ACA blade etches and never knew what it meant. Also good to know the knife I have coming (my first ACA pocketknife) is a Camillus build. I'll post some detail pictures of the blades and bolsters when it arrives. OH

Looks great! I have a close pattern that was one of the Irish-made Imperials, ca. 1980s (it was made around the time the V-22 Osprey was being developed in its early stages, as it's what the knife advertises). The Mexican pattern appears just a bit better made. It has a real awl too--not a Wharncliffe pen blade masquerading as such.
