....I have never seen that tang stamp before?????...................ratlesnake75 wrote:Hey Guys, Thought I would post my Sword Brand Camillus Cotton Sampler. As most of you know I use to collect antique cotton samplers. This is the only one I ever found by Camillus. Have any of you seen this pattern before in Camillus? What date would you put on this knife.
Thanks guys,
Mark
I don't remember ever seeing that exact tang stamp before either. The Sword Brand knives I have (only a couple) have the Camillus tang stamp and Sword Brand etched on the master blade. According to Goins Camillus used a Sword Brand tang stamp in 1906 but it doesn't appear to match the one you have.ratlesnake75 wrote:Hey Guys, Thought I would post my Sword Brand Camillus Cotton Sampler. .............I thought I had one of these but I was wrong!!....I have a timber scribe and a hawkbill but no cotton sampler!!......you would think they would be common here in cotton country, but I have never seen a Camillus!!..............ratlesnake75 wrote:Hey Guys, Thought I would post my Sword Brand Camillus Cotton Sampler. Mark,ratlesnake75 wrote:That is Awesome guys!!! That #2 is certainly very similar to mine huh. My knife has a lanyard hole & different stamping but basically it sure does look the same. Isn't this FUN FUN & what collecting/buying/trading/selling knives is all about, It surely is for me
I will also look closer at my stamping because I didnt realize it was different than other Sword Brand stamps. Maybe we can put a side by side picture comparison & add this stamping to the known stamps that exist for Camillus, I will work on this
Kindest Regards,
Mark
You're welcome! That tang stamp of yours has piqued my interest. I'll be doing some research, as time permits, and if I find anything helpful beyond what's already been said I'll post it.ratlesnake75 wrote:Great Posts Mr. Charlie & Thank you

Like many of the previous posts, I too have never seen that Sword Brand tang stamp. It did get me curious, so I looked through my Camillus knives. These two are the only Sword Brand that are stamped (APPROXIMATELY 1941-1946). I have one that has a blade etch, but that is the more recent pattern.ratlesnake75 wrote:Hey Guys, Thought I would post my Sword Brand Camillus Cotton Sampler. I can't believe I had one of those when I was active duty back in the early 70s. I don't have a clue what became of it and now I'm looking for one in mint or excellent condition which usually carries a price tag of $100.00 or better when I had one that was free, issued by Uncle Sam.
....whoever did it is an EXSPURT!!!!...............ratlesnake75 wrote:Heck No Sir, It was expertly cleaned before me getting itcarrmillus wrote:.......wow, that one appears to be MINT!!!!........I have 2, but they don't look like that one!!!............ratlesnake75 wrote:A good looking Camillus toe that I recently was admiring
