It makes me happy to see knives being given as GAWs & gifts Nice scores, Squach & Tim, and nice photos, too. When I look at the pine boughs, cones and needles in your photos I get a pleasant olfactory response that triggers fond memories of the countless hours I spent outdoors in mountain climates hiking, camping, backpacking, hunting, fishing, etc., in my youth. Those were great years full of adventure and good times

I've traded the mountains for more tropical climes, but that only means I have new opportunities for different adventures

Had to break in my first knife purchase of 2026, so Chucky got to accompany me today on my morning constitutional. I'll let you judge for yourselves, but I think his 'dapper' appearance made a very good first impression

Knife & pics are exceptional, I think I like #3 the best and #1 is a close 2nd.

I think that most of the time folks have as much fun, or adventure, as the y choose too. Regardless of where they are. Just looking at your posts you seem to be doing good in that respect. Great photos: I like number three best, with the knife flat on a background of lava. I can really see the topography of the blade in that shot.

Yesterday I was playing around trying to get a good MOP shot. That did not work out too well, but in the process a cat got in my lap. Well, I like to try different backgrounds, so why not?

Mel, I agree 100% about folks having as much fun/adventure as they choose to regardless of where they are. Having lived in a number of vastly different places myself, I have discovered that everywhere has something unique and interesting to offer. If it's not blatantly obvious, i.e., places that naturally draw a bunch of tourists, all it takes is a little imagination to discover it. And more often than not, it's those "hidden gems" places off the beaten path that end up being the most fun of all

Firstly, I disagree....the MOP turned out quite well. Anyone who has tried to photograph MOP can appreciate how challenging it is to capture the fire in it, but you did a fabulous job in this shot. I'm seeing all kinds of fiery pinks & greens in your MOP.

Secondly, I love the cat hair background; very creative I see some very interesting and nicely contrasting colors in that, too. Well done, sir

In the studio for Wharncliffe Wednesday today the opposite color schemes of these two Case Swaybacks made me think of a Yin-Yang symbol Experimented with a filter to get the black & white monochrome effect. I don't think it looks as good as the old-school black & white photos taken with actual film like we used back in the day. IMO, there is a certain artistry in B&W photography that is not (and cannot) be replicated in digital photos using a B&W filter.

Those are some cool photos that you created. I like that kind of symmetry. (Just look at my personal icon) Regarding the artistry of the old B&W photography I am not so sure. On one hand there was Ansel Adams: on the other hand there were several million fellows like me who had the camera but not the artistry. It is a lot more fun playing around these days when I can see my photo in seconds instead of sending the negatives off to be developed.

Took my Winchester Dogleg CCC Tony 'BOMB' on her virgin village stroll (her virgin stroll, I don't live in a village of virgins ). It's a relatively small village, so it's getting harder to find any good virgin photo spots....new places that I haven't already used previously After awhile, the rocks and plants and ocean, even the dirt, all start to feel kind of repetitive....I don't have an endless supply of fungi variations to choose from like some folks seem to

That is a strikingly beautiful knife, and some of the best pics I have seen. I had to google "Spanish Moss in Hawaii", didn't realize it was found there. I have only been to the 50th one time, and didn't stray far from the beaches around Lahaina.

Q - the Aqua handles on that very nice knife seem fitting for Hawaii. I am wondering if that is Spanish Moss in photos one through three? Spanish Moss used to be a signature feature of my hometown, but over the past sixty years air pollution has reduced it to a remnant of bygone days.
