After several bad attempts I finally got a large stockman that is a keeper! For some reason, every large stockman I have scrounged from the bottom of someone's knife pile has been a disappointment - broken and/or loose blades, rusted & crusty, etc, etc. I had pretty much given-up - until now. I know it's really nothing special - a Camillus #89 and plenty used, but its mine and it's tight and snappy!
BTW, just for any in the future searching for a Camillus #89, here's the pic in the 1976 Camillus catalog:

Suitcase. Buddy. Ya shoulda said something. I have a Camillus 67 that's in good condition and I coulda fixed you up with that. Now admittedly it doesn't have slanted bolsters and the handles aren't that fancy schmancy Indian Stag but it's a good solid old knife. Oh well. Coulda, shoulda, woulda. If a frog had wings he wouldn't bump his a** every time he jumps. That's a good looking 89.

I've had my eye on one of those Daddy Barlows for some time. Is she as nice as she looks? Sabre ground blade and blue bone..what's not to like?

This little mix matched 72 arrived today. I think it is an end of the factory one.

I think you're right. For sure made within the last 2-3 years of business.

1917-1939 Robeson EZ. I like the knife, love the bones and the aged steel. But I'm starting to hate online knife seller con artists. This one was billed as 1896. Total BS. I looked up the Robeson stamp guides and the best there was, easiest to decipher, was RobesonsRme right here on AAPK. Thanks to RobesonsRme I was able to tell the years, even if the lying seller tried to pass it off as older. So I knew he was a liar, but still liked the knife. Incidentally I have bought many old knives online and EVERY LAST ONE THAT WAS WRONGLY DATED WAS DATES OLDER THAN IT REALLY WAS. This cannot be all coincidence. I believe it's deliberate misrepresentation in most cases or some would get it wrong and claim it was younger than it is. But that's never happened to me yet. Nevertheless, I knew the seller was a liar on that point and since I looked it up with help from RobesonsRme I bought it anyway. Many thanks RobesonsRme. But then when it came I found there is a large crack in one scale. The seller billed it as no cracks or chips. The seller photographed it from many angles so as to hide the crack. Also the seller claimed it was tight. It's loose. Par for the course. I see this kind of garbage all the time. I am to the point where I don't even trust any online knife con artist sellers in general, but still succumb to the siren song temptation and I still buy knives. I have to return some and live with the rest. Anyway, buyers beware, there are liars all over selling things that are not as billed as I'm sure you all know. But it sucks to eat it like that sometimes and get lied to. And when I didn't give the lying seller positive feedback for a couple days he has the nerve to contact me and ask me to give him positive feedback. I told him I had not decided on that because of the flaws and dishonest listing. To that he replied he would give me $15. To that I replied I didn't give a damn about his $15, it was never about $15 after I caught him lying about the details. I wanted a knife as billed, honest listing information, that's all. But it's not to be and probably never will be. Used knife sellers are as bad as uses car sales people, maybe worse. They will lie to your face, like it's part of their job. Been there done that so many times before it's disgusting. But I still like the knife even though I bought it from a double dipping liar. I thought about putting his handle up on here, but I don't even want to give him any press or exposure. Such is life.

I have decided that ebay is great for buying inexpensive knives. If I pay $20 for a knife and it ends up being a $10 knife, I can live with that. I just have to hope that I'm skilled enough to come out even over the long-run. If I ever spend more serious money on an old knife, I'm going to buy it from an AAPK member.

My brother gave me this one for my birthday. It's made by "off grid knives".
The steel is from Japan, and assembled in Taiwan. The steel is AUS8, cryogenically treated.
Pretty neat. I'm gonna carry it to work.

That's cool - is it G10? I don't think I've previously seen a honeycomb pattern like that - I like it!

This one is glass reinforced nylon, but I think they do make a G10 version.

A new old one....a Schrade 863, complete with tube.

And a new new one. An Outdoor Edge Swingblaze, with a blade that swings around to a guthook. I saw my buddy take the back-straps out of a couple of hogs in a couple of minutes with one of these, and had to have one. It came shaving sharp.

ranger, I like the grinds on that blade and the uncommon handle. Cool all around.
