All About Pocket Knives

I really like the combination of black G10 with the stainless in an almost, but not quite, traditional pattern. The mixture of old & new is a very cool.

Hey look - I *can* actually buy a knife that is bigger than a Peanut! To be honest, I had no idea how big a Camillus #8 is - it's a serious handful. This one is FAR from mint - the blade etch is completely gone and it has plenty of honest use dings and scrapes. It is also dull as a butter knife, so I'll need to give it some love.

Like the first scratch on a new car the knives with just a little wear carry better. Like them both.

Mail man brought me this little McGrew Ark. Barlow. Made for McGrew Pawn Shop of Glenwood Ark. probably by Camillus.

An interesting and good looking Barlow. Also jnteresting is the page on which you displayed the knife. I refer to the commentary on properly storing a strop. I never considered this before. Since I hang my strop vertically in a clean (relatively) environment I don't feel the need to store it. However if it was in a work room or garage I can see the relevance. Learning something new every day.

Thanks Quick Steel, I bought a whittling knife and a strop from Deepwoods Ventures and that is the instruction sheet that came with it. He makes great knives with absolutely beautiful hardwood burl handles.

It's here!!!

As soon as I pulled this Robeson out of the package it immediately became one of my favorites. According to Charlie, this delrin (Ooops! Jerry correctly pointed out this can't be Delrin in the late 1930s - but it is some sort of synthetic) handled, slant-bolstered jack is probably the later end of the 1917-1939 tang stamp. Now I understand the fascination with Robeson knives - this knife is very well made. The seller even included the little pimp-red cloth bag, and the knife was freshly oiled!

Fine looking knife and I like the slanted bolsters. What size is it?

I measure 3.25" closed. Same size as my Ka-Bar 1081.

Doglegg: Yes! This is my first Robeson knife and I really like it. And trust me, today, I really, REALLY needed something to be excited about. It's only Wednesday and it has already been a looooong week!

I usually don't buy knives made in China but this one caught my eye. It's quite a knife for 16 bucks.
Measures 3 9/16". I don't understand why they don't make these knives with regular curved nail nicks instead of match strike nicks. They'd look a lot better. I think the match strike nick looks good on the long pull but not on the curved. Just my opinion.

I'm with you ... the knife looks well made & handsome except for that Curved "striker' nail nick. It just my head in for some reason.
