Mahalo, Mel I must admit, however, that I do not feel my photos turned out nearly as well as I had hoped; something was lost between the concept and the execution. I guess you could say I failed to translate my illusion into reality. The "reality" I see in my photos is not the reality I had hoped to create when I envisioned the concept. But, that is not too unusual for me as I am often pleasantly surprised by the results of my photography efforts (and just as often disappointed, as well)

I agree, Tim The bright green is a striking contrast against the muted colors of the background. I especially like the symmetry of the shield and the blade etch in the third pic. Pretty cool how that turned out Well done, Squach

I've been hoping to hear more from the folks who made this knife. Battle Axe by Cooper Cutlery knives are USA Made in Ohio and would be a welcome addition to the shrinking list of American cutlers.

It's a well made knife. I like it. Fit and finish is good and the bone is very nice. I wish they had given it half stops, would've been a nice touch.

Coincidentally, I was working the color angle on my outing today as well.

Thanks Q. I use the windows photo application that came with Windows 10 to process my photos. It allows me to make some adjustments to the original photo. I don't do much other than adjust brightness, contrast, and color saturation. I try not to change the basic nature of the photo. In this case the color is enhanced by "saturation" a little bit and the leaves stand out a bit better.

You certainly got the fall colors going on in your pics. I like the Wharncliffe Kizer too!

Mahalo, Squach Interesting....I have experimented a bit with the photo filters on my iPhone but didn't feel any of my adjustments actually improved the photos. Either the changes were unnoticeable or they were too obvious and made the photos look weird and unnatural.

Speaking of weird and unnatural...check out this bizarre plant I discovered (I think it's a species of crocus) while out shooting more pics of the same Kizer Sway Back I carried yesterday.

Wow, that plant has really cool colors! Your photos are eye catching. Imagine if the knife blade was a mirror finish, that would make for some interesting reflections. Great pics!

I think that in the case of the knife and cenotaph photos, the problem was the scale differential. It is not easy to pair a four inch pocket knife with a six foot stone. I have had that problem with some of the things I wanted to use as backgrounds.

You certainly captured the color angle in you latest photos!

Charlie, I use the same app in Windows as you described ... it works well for enhancing photos.

Nice color coordination between the knife handle and the tree bark, Squach. You sure have a wide variety of wood where you walk. I’m also seeing a nice balance of lines and angles in that set. The lighter color horizontal stick parallels the bullet shield nicely.

I had this Queen City single blade trapper out for a belated Trapper Tuesday post so I snapped a few pics in the yard before returning it to storage.

Here's a photo I took indoors on a black surface with no props, just two of my favorite knives positioned in a way that I find interesting. Hard to explain but for some reason it just "feels right" to me. I like how this one turned out and I keep looking at it over and over but I can't seem to put my finger on exactly what it is that I find so compelling about it. I wondered if it might just be because I really like these particular knives and I'd like any photo I took of them. So, I took a bunch more photos of the same knives arranged differently but none of the other photos intrigued me quite like this one.

Thanks Q. There is indeed a wide variety of trees in this area both deciduous and evergreen.

WOW Q! You really captured some vibrant colors in that last set of photos!! This time of year in this area everything is fading to browns and grays as the leaves finish falling.

Yesterday was a rough day as I noted in the AAA thread. When it starts getting cold the body seems to find ways of reminding you of every part you've busted up over the years....and then some. With all I had to do I still managed to get Billy out for a short walk just before dark in the grove by the creek. I shot these pics quickly thinking they would probably not be worth posting but they actually came out rather well. So here are the pics from our walk yesterday.
