.....lots of members on here collect this type knife!!...you should have no trouble selling it!!...again, welcome to AAPK!!..........PACKLEAD3R wrote:right on. Me either. It belonged to my dad. I thought I would sell it. Lockback knives aren't my style either. Reminds me of the old junk lockback I had as a kid. Only much nicer. Lol
Thanks for the reply!
Your knife is part of a series produced by Camillus that was relatively popular. Since Camillus closed their doors and are no longer made in the USA a knife like yours in mint condition with the original box is accruing value as we speak. You won't get rich off of the sale but you should have no trouble finding interested buyers out there. I'm not sure what the current value is but you could always cruise ebay and the AAPK stores to get an idea of what your knife and similar knives are selling for.PACKLEAD3R wrote:Can anyone tell me more about this knife? 1989 camillus running deer ltd edition commemorative lockback. #389

Did they ever use that pattern outside of the Eagle Scout Knife and sold to Santa Fe Stoneworks to adding their fancy scales? Seems that's all I've seen it used for.New_Windsor_NY wrote:Picked up this little guy today. A Camillus Eagle Scout knife.
Roland I found the little 46 first in the 1972 catalog and then it was gone by the 1976 catalog. Doesn't appear to have been around very long. The handles were described as 'sea pearl'.kootenay joe wrote:Floyd i had thought the Gent's style pen knife was from 1950's at the latest but i was not going by tang markings. If you go back to 1920's and earlier there were a great variety of 'Gent's' style pocket knives. A lot of 'gent's' must have carried one. By 1960's interest in pen knives in general decreased in favor of jack knives and disappeared from catalogs by late 1970's ?
Finding this #46 in old catalogs and seeing when it last appeared would give dates.

I honestly don't know.cody6268 wrote:Did they ever use that pattern outside of the Eagle Scout Knife and sold to Santa Fe Stoneworks to adding their fancy scales? Seems that's all I've seen it used for.New_Windsor_NY wrote:Picked up this little guy today. A Camillus Eagle Scout knife.
They're just not really big enough to be a regular blade. I carry the little Victorinox Classic either in a shirt pocket or my watch pocket as a supplemental carry , but most of the time all I use is the scissors; and it's mostly a backup knife. The bigger 3" Wengers are a more useful knife.New_Windsor_NY wrote:I honestly don't know.cody6268 wrote:Did they ever use that pattern outside of the Eagle Scout Knife and sold to Santa Fe Stoneworks to adding their fancy scales? I'm not a huge fan of this type/style of knife.
It's 2 3/8" long, closed.
I only got it to add to my Camillus scouting/camping knives.
It has a loop on it for a key ring or a fob. I see this as more of a "quality gift" for the Eagle Scout graduate or for becoming an Eagle Scout. Eagle Scouts are not little kids, they're older teenagers.cody6268 wrote:They're just not really big enough to be a regular blade. Eagle Scout knives, whatever their size, are usually more of a "Presentation Knife" than a practical user. Having said that, all of them made by different cutlers over the years are capable of being used....some more so than others.New_Windsor_NY wrote:It has a loop on it for a key ring or a fob. The 42s in all the catalogs that I looked through, all have pearl handles and the short bolsters. This possible 42, in this style does NOT appear in ANY of the available on-line catalogs or in any of my catalogs or catalog pages. Could it possibly be pre-1946?jerryd6818 wrote:The tang sure looks like it's stamped 42. It looks like it's over the 3-1/8" closed length for a 41 & 42. The handles on a 42 are Nu-Pearl (celluloid) and that knife has "Brownstag" handles. Ya got me partner.
Until 1946, 4-digit numbering was used.New_Windsor_NY wrote:Could it possibly be pre-1946?
Nice!New_Windsor_NY wrote:My Camillus TL-29.
Do you mean a date/year on the tang?Vit_213 wrote:Until 1946, 4-digit numbering was used.New_Windsor_NY wrote:Could it possibly be pre-1946?
