I got this fun little guy yesterday - a 1960-76 Camillus #77. It is 2.75 inches closed. The 1977 Camillus catalog calls this a "Midget Stockman" in "Jigged Cabone". I think everyone not in the Camillus Marketing Department would call it a small stockman in jigged Delrin...

Thanks I-man, I'm glad I got this one and was lucky enough to be able to pick from a few offered by the dealer rather than buying blind. If I had the extra funds to spend I would have been tempted to buy another variation in a lighter appaloosa bone as well.

Here here, I always would like a few extra funds for a couple more knives than I can afford. I had to take whatever the dealer sent me, no seeing before hand. They sold out so fast there's no swapping for another either. Take whatever you get, then you live with it. But I like getting two, no problem selling the one you like least and then you get a choice. But the temptation is always to keep them both.
Oh and LanG, thanks for the words. Believe me, if I had more funds, I'd have more Northwoods. But at that price, I buy few.

It’s been a while since I posted here, the urge to jump into the discuss on a forum comes and goes, today it showed up. Not my newest addition, but one of the newer ones a Case 6292 Texas jack in green bone from 1985. A real nice like new knife and it came from right here in our very own AAPK store!

I think Keith espn77 is saying that the bullet shield used on the original Remington Bullet Knives from approximately 1920 to approximately1940 was a rimmed cartridge - not that the shield on Bruno bdev's knife had a rimmed cartridge. Here is a picture of an original Remington Bullet R4243 with a close-up of the shield.

This is getting interesting. If you think about it, Remington would have obviously used one of their own cartridges as a model for their shield design. The .30 Remington, one of their most popular rounds of the time, was a rimless cartridge designed for their autoloader yet their shield is definitely rimmed. Did Remington have a rimmed cartridge that the shield could have been modeled after?

Of course, it does seem a bit odd that Remington would put a Winchester 30-30 cartridge on their knife. Maybe it's supposed to be one of the Remington developed cartridges, like a 32 or 35 Rem?
