When I won the lot that included this stylish piece of steel I thought the description was a typo.....for Victorinox, but really it's a Virginia Inox

Nice one , Scott. ::tu:: ....inox means stainless steel in French....I don't remember mine stamped Virginia. Might be a Virginia in France. ::shrug::

I went up to New Hampshire, yesterday, to see a guy I had conversed with, after buying a Russell knife book from him.
He said he had some old Russell barlows and other stuff. Owns a book shop. He was a gent for shure. He let me look at what little he had; not a lot. The barlows were rough, but to my amazement he had a Waterville and a Southbury.
Two stamps I have been wanting. And the very nice and old Remington. I passed up a Sheffield congress.(ouch) It was in decent shape as are the ones I brought home, but his other stuff was rough.
The ride up was nice, but coming home I was in the storm, and I mean STORM, that put down killer tornados (4 killed?) in and around Springfield, Ma. Believe me I was praying for Gods grace and He provided. It was one rough ride. Ironicly, I was home later doing steaks on the grill. My friends, I have nothing to complain about. Praise God!!!

Waterville/Southbury.......3 3/8"
Remington.......3 9/16"

Ya, Paul. I'm in Terryville, so real close to both Waterville (part of Waterbury) and Southington.
I'm pretty happy about getting these old knives.

Joe, you guys back east have all the good pickin's. Out west yer lucky to find any 40 year old knife that ain't plumb sharpened away. We don't have none of the good brands, neither. ::shrug:: Almos' makes me wanna move back thar..... Well maybe a vacation! ::nod:: Whar'd ya say that place wuz? New Hamsher? Ain't that by New York?

Seriously, nice finds, my friend!

Thanks Barry,
it's true I guess. All, or most, of the cutlery mfgs. were right here in the east. And lots of them.
You know I am from Washington myself. Born in Spokane. We lived in Tacoma when my dad died working in Port Angeles in 53. Actually my son is living on Vashon Island now.
Well, ya got to be careful about mixin New hampshire and New York. Google -New Hampshire Grants- There was hell fire up there before the revolutionary war. Ethan Allen, who was born in Litchfield, Ct. (the house is still there) and his Green Mountain Boys straightened things out for New York they say.
