A single blade wharncliffe canoe is a new pattern for me. I like it.

Just got this Sword brand Camillus in and I am happy. I am going to clean it up a little and then I may carry it for a while. Here are a few pictures. The small pen blade has Camillus Cut Co. Camillus NY. USA on it. All the blades are full and nice. Is this a 61 pattern?

When I got back from my business trip a pile of packages were waiting for me from my January buying spree!

Starting at the upper left in this picture and moving around to the right:

1. Case 62087 medium serpentine jack with scissors as the secondary in Bonestag (1996)
2. Case 5120 R SSP Peanut with bail in stag (1980)
3. Case 52033 R SSP Pen with Bail in stag (1980)
4. Case 6220 Peanut in red jigged bone (1965-69) - primary blade looks to be short and reground
5. Case 6220 Peanut in brown jigged delrin (1978)
Center: Case A6220 Peanut in Smooth Appaloosa, bolster numbered, blade etched, with plastic case (1978)

The only one I'm disappointed in is #4 - I did not realize the blade had been re-shaped until it arrived. I should have seen that in the pictures. I paid too much for that one, but the others were all well within my bottom-feeder budget!

Terry, it looks like you're right on track to match my knife-a-day habit. When I mentioned the extent of my addiction, it was intended as a warning, not a recommendation or challenge.

So, how long did it take you to go from your one-knife-per-month limit to

Did nobody warn you this would happen?

Nice pile...and there's still over a week left in the month, so...

Hopefully, I have gotten the frenzy out of my system for a while and I will now settle down a bit. What would probably help is if the rest of you guys would bid all the peanut and pen knives up beyond my pain point so I won't buy them. Help a fella out... :D

Sorry, my friend, but it doesn't work that way. Although it sounds plausible in theory, once you're addicted, higher prices only leads to the bottomless pit of debt, not forced self-control (for that you need a wife!). ::skeptic::

Ed I love that whittler. I'm not sure of the pattern number but I've just always called those a sleeve board whittler. Since that pen blade has a stamp on it it may be older than 1941. Maybe Carmillus will come along and tell us. ::tu::

As far as the peanuts go, I think it's you who raised the prices beyond my "pain point"! ::rotflol::

I've already got a minty Appy peanut so I'm glad it could go to someone who appreciates it. ::handshake::

Haven't been very vigilant about photographing my new pickups since the holiday season. I cobbled together most of my recent pickups over the last month or so and took a few quick snapshots.

Barlows:

Not-Barlows:
39095651154_687162dcea_k.jpg
Not pictured: Two stag S&M Barlows from my good AAPK friend Q (QTCut5), a GEC 47 from my other good AAPK friend John (jmh58), and my 2018 GEC arrivals (the #78s). Ugh, I think I'm close to a knife-a-day too since I've got no fewer than 3 knives coming from Scott (AAPK TripleF) and another three Barlows in my shopping cart in the bay. ::facepalm::

P.S. For anyone who replied to my question in the "first knife of 2018" thread... we were all right, and we were all wrong. ::smirk:: The standard "MUSKET-1" Remington granddaddy Barlow by Camillus is in fact jigged black bone. It was the 200th anniversary Remington MUSKET-1 by Camillus that comes standard in sawcut Delrin. Seems weird that a commemorative edition would use less "fancy" materials compared to the standard run knife, but there you go. ::shrug::

It's technically not what we consider a pocket knife (a folder), but it is designed to go in your back pocket.

That's a pretty neat lookin' fixed blade. Looks like it would be mighty handy at helpin' Bambi find a place in the freezer! ::hmm:: What's the thickness of the spine/tang of that one?

About 1/16th of an inch.
The blade is only 2 3/8" and the handle is 3 5/8". OAL 6".

It's a fine little knife. I've carried mine a couple of times and it rides very unobtrusively in the hip pocket. A real dandy for the price.

Today's arrivals.....

The True Value is slick but the main blade closes off center enough so it just stops on the middle liner....

Bruno, you're gonna love it.
