Yeah snap and half stops on that knife are pretty incredible. Wish I would have known you were looking for a 99. I have a fairly uncommon one as far as the bone color but it's Green bone with a spear blade. Tested era.
Trying to locate your phone number give me a call when you can. Thanks, Jerry.

That is a strange developing color scheme for greenbone, very unusual.

Very unique I agree. But authentic none the less. Real scarce knife in my opinion and experience. And near mint on top of that.

Just a few I picked up the last month. Nothing fancy but garage sale specials.
Anyone have and idea on the last one? Has a Case logo 20s-40s.

Western, nice finds! The pictures are a little dark and fuzzy so I couldn't make out any details. However, if you measure the closed length of the bottom knife (2 blade stag) I believe it is very likely either:
1. Length 3 1/4" = 05230 1/2
2. Length 3 5/8" = 05245 1/2
My guess is that 05245 1/2. Please reply back with the length, especially if it is not either of the 2 that I mentioned.
Edit: FYI, here is a link to another example of a 05245 1/2.

Good score, one of the best knives I have, rock solid, tough, great steel that sharpens easy, big bad sheep foot. Love the Whaler.

Some of my favorite knives of all time are Case knives. Some of the ones I have from the '60s and 70's I would put up against my GEC, Moki's S&M, German, Japanese, etc., or anything else and feel like the older Cases were as good as any, better than many of those knives. I have a couple Case from the '90s that are not bad, a 2005 Mini Copperlock that's great. My last NEW Case were a 2014 Tear Drop Jack and a 2014 Copperlock and they were pretty good, less snap than the old Cases but solid and very good performing knives. Have a 2014 Tony Bose LB Whittler that I love. They all had no issues that bothered me or would make me return them. I'm happy with them. I am not happy with a new Case Swayback Gent, Deep Canyon Goldenrod that just came. First the color in the pictures was deep and dark. The color on mine is anemic and I'm being kind. Very washed out and dull yellow, not Goldenrod and not deep. Disappointing but I can let that slide. Then I noticed the front bolsters, and even the rear bolsters are so uneven one looks about twice as thick as the opposite side. Not even close. The "pinched" part of the bolsters is off line and looks slanted to one side. I have never seen bolsters before that were not pretty much even, or very close to uniform. The snap open is so week it's a stretch to call it snap. More like you push it open and you hear a slight click, but it doesn't snap much by itself at all. Weak spring. Half stop is weak, but doable. Then I noticed a hairline crack in the scale on the bottom next to the front bolster and one side of the scale is twice as thick as the othe where it meets the bolster due to the bolsters being so different in thickness. So the bone is thicker on one side to match the non-uniform bolsters. Then I notice the brand new edge has a ding in it where it has already hit the backspring peak where the spring pin is. I have not closed it yet, I did not snap it closed to make the dent. It came dented. It will keep denting any edge I put on it until I grind enough blade away to prevent that. But it's a new knife I shouldn't have to grind down to make it work right. I had tolerated a lot of disappointment from this knife but I don't want any knife that hits the back spring and puts a gap in the cutting edge. That is a deficient edge, snapping action, workings of the knife. It does not function correctly. One thing I like about a folding knife is that the channel PROTECTS the blade and covers it, keeps it out of the way when not in use. This one dings and damages the cutting edge every time it closes and will for the foreseeable future. It doesn't protect it, it dings it. That I don't need. Unfortunately I got a lemon or the Case factory inspector and finisher were either drunk that day, or hung over, or out of their normal selves. I have heard Case quality complaints before, but I thought they had gotten it back together pretty much. I know now it's still in decline. I'm embarrassed for them, loved their knives for decades. But now I'll be afraid to ever get another new one. I still will look for oldies, but I think I'm done with new Case knives and it's a shame and an embarrassment to the company and sad for all knife enthusiasts. I'm thinking of writing the company and telling them to please raise their standards up to where they used to be, I took Case knives for granted as having none of these issues. I will pay $20-30 more for a knife without all these flaws. But I won't keep buying a knife with all these flaws even if it's low priced. Ever again. Just telling anyone who is curious to beware of new Case stuff, and watch for quality control in the future. It might be still going down hill and that's not worth the hassle or any low price.

Couldn't agree with you more Iman. I have a 2014 Tony Bose sowbelly that has the poorest fit and finish on a knife that I have ever seen. I won't buy one post 1982 again. I have acouple of the collectibles produced after that and the blades are so flimsy I would be afraid to use them.

You said it gsmith. Cannot argue with that. Don't know how Case thinks losing customers over low grade, declining quality is the business model to follow?

EXACTLY. And what kills me is they did it for decades, they made great knives before the 1980's. GEC wouldn't have even had a niche in the market if Case still made premium, quality, cool knives like they did every day in the 1920s-1960s. They were the top. Then they quit doing it and GEC simply started doing what Case no longer chose to do. Sad but true.

Well here are a couple of beautiful modern day Case knives with outstanding fit and finish, beautiful covers, and smooth operating blades with no wiggle or wobble, and great snap. Just picked these up as a pair for a great price, thrilled to add them to the Case accumulation. Both are 83 whittlers, the one with the shield is bonestag, the other is prime stag. Case can still get it done fellas, don't lose faith.

Mike those are certainly beautiful knives and Case still makes a premium knife. It just seems likea lot more stinkers get through their quality control dept than should. I think when I buy another one new I want to hold it in my hot little hands first before I dole out any cash.
