All About Pocket Knives

Tsar: The 26FBH is 3 1/4 closed. Mine is the 9FBH which is 3 3/4 in. closed. Both carry D2 steel.

Bruce I have a '65-'69 6232 jack and the pen is an absolute bear to open.

This one does seem to have more snap to the pen blade but, not unreasonable.

LandersKnives (Ed) posted a Klein rope knife that he had re-handled in a beautiful natural stag.
I complemented his craftsmanship, and asked if he had any interest in selling it. More precisely I stated that I would love to buy it if it ever came up for sale.
Ed thanked me for the compliment, and life went on.
A couple of weeks later Ed PM'd asking if I was really interested... Here are the pictures of my newest pickups.
He not only built one but two identical knives. Both are the same vintage, my guess? 1940's? I haven't looked them up yet.

We made what I thought was a very fair deal for his time/labor/materials, and of course the knives themselves. Well Mr. LandersKnives thought differently.
I opened a box containing FOUR knives.
The two Klein rope knives
One near mint Case First Run, amber bone Stockman
The coolest Taylor brand Elk Horn "Shark" in way cool gold glitter synth. handles
To top it all off there were a pair of knife socks, and the neatest little wooden box with a magnetic clasp
This kind gentleman went way above and beyond the scope of our deal...

Thank you LandersKnives!!! I hope this is just the beginning of a nice future in selling your custom handled knives.
The workmanship is first class all the way.
One of the Klein-s is going in my pocket as a forever carry knife to remind me of all of you here, and the other is going into my own growing personal collection as an example of what an enthusiast can accomplish if they just try!

I think I have about a dozen now. I remember having quite a few of them when I was a kid, in fact they seemed to be the most common knives around when I was young (45+ years ago) .

Hornet stamp is identical to one I have that I consider vintage. No idea on the Pratt.

A good find for me; have been looking forward to it. This is an original Tennesee/Harris benchmade. The Blue Tick Hound was made in 1982. 500 were issued. I do admire the modern production of the Col. Coon knives made by Queen. I think, to use a cliche, they punch far above their weight. But with the originals, from 78 to 88. one also acquires the work of the creative Mr. Harris who made significant contributions to the advancement of pocket knives. I think this brand offers fine collectibles for not too much money. If this brand ever caught on with collectors it would mean less availability for me. Still, if you are looking to focus on something of quality that is a bit different, I do suggest taking a look at the Col. Coon label.

Uncle Henry knives never did much for me but Muskrats sure do so I like it!

That KK honey bee sure has some sweet handles, and if your going to collect Colonel Coon knives... You might as well go ahead and get the best ones in the box!

I believe our friend biggie-H's new 'rat is a 77OT Old Timer. Some are etched "Improved Muskrat" on the master, though I've never seen one with anything but two Turkish clip blades (most "improved" rats have spear or Wharnie secondary blades; one particular Camillus I have features a Turkish clip master and a regular clip secondary).

As an aside, I'm glad to see a couple of those Cane Cutters out and about getting totes lately. I have had regrets about not grabbing an ebony variant as well (what, me, budget???) and that's caused me to leave the bone knife safely ensconced in its packaging, unexposed to the elements. It's a little easier since I've got a couple other knives on the #54 frame, but I want to get to the point where I just up and tote it. Maybe I'll try to run down an ebony version on the secondary market and then put the bone knife into the EDC rotation...

I've had one of those 77OTs for many years and use it every year when processing venison, a great knife for specialized jobs!

Exactly how I tuned up the edge of my Case's master clip this very morning. Rats and carbon steel go together like hops and barley.

Big H that is certainly a good knife to tote.

Thanks for the kind words fellers, seems to be a pretty good ole knife, a little too much snap for my ole brittle nails, I'll put some slick'em on 'em and get 'em opening easier. That ole cup is pretty rough on the bottom, lot of small chips, been around for a while, but it'll suffice in an emergency.

Kutmaster bone cattle knife came in the mail last night. Real happy with this one.

Does anyone have any idea of when it may have been manufactured? There isn't much information on Kutmaster.
