All About Pocket Knives

Gino, that's a dirty shame. This is my experience. When I got the Yellow Rose 35, the main blade had no snap and the secondary was weak. Working in some Quick Release on both joints made the secondary average and the main acceptable. As a frame of reference, I like my knives to have the sound of a dry twig breaking. This video I made of one of my Victorinox Florals is a good example.

I hope our AAPK 2017 knives turn out better than that!

Thanks for the kind words fellas I been playing with it all day and secondary blade improved slightly but nothing in main. As IM said with his knife this one is otherwise perfect so I might hang on to it. I was really looking forward to carrying it and anyway if that’s the least of my problems I’m doing okay lol. Wow, that is one nice Cattaraugus camper you got there!! Wish it was in my camper knife box!!

Rob that bone is outstanding and it looks like you got cream-of-the-crop patina on that punch. You guys are killin' it with these Catts lately, I need to get on the ball and get some before they're all gone!

Thanks Tony! Don't rush, there's plenty left out there somewhere. I'm not sure that's patina on the punch, possibly blued? There's nothing on the other side of the punch.

The mailman dropped this GEC# 48 improved trapper off today. Nice stag Northfield with a wharnecliffe blade.

I used to prefer strong crisp snaps but now i realize it is not needed for spring to do it's job, which is: prevent blade from opening on it's own and hold blade firmly in the fully open position.
As long as the spring does both these things, the absence of snap does not matter as far as function is concerned.

Congratulations Greg. Good choice. That's one of my favorite GEC's. I've never had two of any GEC pattern before but I have two of the 48 Improved Trapper.

I wasn’t sure about the jigging either but it really looks pretty good in person, reminds me of Queens winterbone jigging.

Couldn’t pass up the price

Picked up a couple of HOKs on the 'net today.
First is an 8313 whittler pattern circa 1950-1955. Next is an 85 Razor pattern. The etching on the shield was first patented in 1976, but never used on the blade like this until circa 1988-1994.

Really like the serpentine frame whittler Ranger, beautiful bones too. Very cool knife. You scored big time. Congrats.
