Have you guys seen this Case Sodbuster?

I passed on the Case, but I found this nice USA made Utica that I decided to give a try.

Howard Bros, Germany. This one is pretty cool (i think, at least). It's definitely been worked on. But I'm not familiar with horn bolsters. Who replaces bolsters with horn? Or are they original but repinned? Odd. I'll have to spend some time in the bolsters thread. Anybody know what kind of wood that is?

Parker Mink. This is a commemorative for a ship, maybe a sub I'm not sure, will have to look into that. Im from Wisconsin though and I've wanted a Mink for a minute so the stars aligned. May give this to my Vietnam navy buddy. Or maybe someone here served on it? If so and you want a mink It's yours

There were only two USN ships named USS Wisconsin, the battleships BB-9 and BB-64. Since BB-9 was decommissioned in 1920 none of her former crews are left. BB-64 is a museum ship in Virginia. BB-64 was last decommissioned in 1991 so there might be an old AAPK salt to give it to.

Thanks for the info buddy. A mink is a small fur bearing animal, like a large weasel, and is the animal for which this interesting Parker pen knife is named. Im not even sure what to call this liner and lack of bolster combo. I guess shadow pattern, but the liners wrap around the ends. Seems like this was maybe sold out of ship's gift shop.

Recent acquisitions .....

The Hoffman Group's Garant brand sells a nice exclusive 111mm Victorinox Nomad with Plus Scales called the Garant--but at $75 from Hoffman USA when I used to get a Trekker for $40, no thanks.

Did discover they had a nice series of "Holex" brand knives at less than $15 each--not just the one I"d passed over several times as I already have that pattern; as they were hid in a drop-down menu.

These look like the Italian Antononi, but COO is not mentioned, and Hoffman Global lists themselves as the supplier. These seem mostly based on old European, and specifically German work knife patterns.

Just over $50 shipped total for one of each. These look pretty good and are cheap enough to where I'm not at all worried about damaging or losing them.


1: $6.

Pretty much your standard Euro pattern electrician's knife. My workhorse is a Kissing Crane from like the '60s.
1F: $10 Same as above, but a lockback.
2: $14.

Facom used to sell a knife built similarly, but no strippers on the sheepsfoot. It was French-made, but hard to find in the States. This one's gonna see quite a bit of use.
3: $14

Similar to the Hubertus Work Knife, and it has the quarter-round awl that's great for leatherwork and untying knots.

Another that will likely see a lot of pocket time.
