Bolsters could be pot metal (white metal made in any combination of zink, antimony, tin, lead, cadmium or bismuth)

Finally got a Schatt & Morgan that lives up to the expectations of a "custom shop made" knife as S&Ms are supposed to be. This is a very fine knife, indeed. Mammoth ivory handles, silky smooth action with crisp half-stop and solid snap on both blades. Hands down the best Schatt & Morgan knife I have ever seen or owned. In fact, one of the best knives in my entire collection, period. So, this proves that Queen can make a superlative knife in their custom/speciality shop if they really want to.

Beautiful, congrats on the sweet acquisition. Good to hear they can make a good one sometimes, too bad they don't every time. But that is definitely a fine looker, and very elegant knife.

Here is a recent arrival: another ivory Schatt & Morgan, this one a 3 1/4" Wharncliffe Whittler. Blades are not sharp but the rest of the knife is very nice, & purchased here on AAPK. It is marked 1997. Looks like the dealer had it for a long time until i came along and bought it. I am surprised as i see this as a knife that should have been snapped up within days of being listed.

Neither sleek nor handsome, this Kershaw 3/4 Ton. (At least it was low priced) I want a black 1/2 Ton (3/8" shorter) but obviously wasn't paying attention to what I was doing.

This Queen #27 Muskrat has Casein handles. I didn't know what Casein was, this is what I found....
Casein is a high quality milk protein product,. Casein is similar to celluloid, and can be highly colored, is easy to grind, sand, and file, but, it without the risks of flammability or toxic fumes that celluloid has and it doesn't out-gas like celluloid. Casein was produced in a New Zealand factory in 1912. By 1914, 22 dairy factories were making Casein. Casein was also used in England to produce glues, pens, knife handles, and buttons.
If anyone knows what year this knife was produced I'd sure like to know.

Thanks for the good words. I did a little checking and found GEC made a #73 in Ivory Casein in 2007.

I checked the Queen website for Queen Classics under the SFO tab. It looks like that muskrat was fairly recent since it have the Queen Classics blade etch.
