All About Pocket Knives

Recently, this advertising pocket knife arrived in a very large group or lot of pocket knives that I purchased. This particular pocket knife was NOT the target of my purchase. But, it did turn out to be a keeper. It will be added to my general, advertising, pocket knife collection. It is an UNBRANDED, two blades, no tang stamp(s), two springs, 3 1/8" closed, tipped bolsters, advertising, pocket knife. If there ever was a tang stamp or stamps, I could NOT find any trace of it or them. The main handle side says "GRAFFIUS BURIAL VAULTS - SINKING SPRING, PA." The other handle side says nothing, it is blank. The main blade has a decent opening and closing snap. The secondary blade also has a decent opening and closing snap. Neither blade has a half stop. Overall, this pocket knife is in EXCELLENT condition. It did NOT need any cleaning at all.
I just wiped it off. I took some pictures and here it is.

Not long ago, this advertising pocket knife arrived in a large group or lot of pocket knives that I bought. This particular pocket knife was NOT the reason for my purchase. However, as it turned out, it is a keeper. It will join my general, advertising, pocket knife collection. It is a U.S.A., two blades, two tang stamps, 3 1/8" closed, tipped bolsters, advertising, pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says "U.S.A." The secondary blade front tang stamp also says "U.S.A." The main handle side says (VERY faint), "PIONEER SEEDS" with a logo. The other handle side says nothing, it is blank. I'm not sure of the handles material. The main blade has a good half stop with a decent opening and closing snap. The secondary blade also has a good half stop with a decent opening and closing snap. Overall, this pocket knife is in GOOD condition. It was definitely in need of some cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

A few weeks ago, this advertising pocket knife arrived in a large group or lot of pocket knives that I bought. This particular pocket knife was NOT the target of my purchase. But, it did turn out to be a keeper. It will be added to my general, advertising, pocket knife collection. It is a HAMMER BRAND, two blades, two tang stamps, two springs, 3 1/8" closed, tipped bolsters, advertising, pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says "HAMMER (over) BRAND with the flexed arm with hammer and has a vertical "USA" on the side. The secondary blade front tang stamp has two patent numbers. The main handle side says "LEMON S. SWEIGART - Brick & Blocklaying - Phone Denver: AN 7-4251 - Reinholds, Pa." It also has a house logo. The other handle side has nothing, it is blank. The main blade has a decent opening and closing snap. The secondary blade also has a decent opening and closing snap. Neither blade has a half stop. Except for some minor wear to the handle lettering, this pocket knife is in EXCELLENT condition. According to the tang stamp chart, it is from 1945-1955. It did NOT require any cleaning at all. I just wiped it off. I took some pictures and here it is.

But, as it turned out, it is a keeper and it will be added to my general, advertising, pocket knife collection. It is a U.S.A., two blades, one tang stamp, one spring, 3 3/8" closed, tipped bolsters, pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says "U.S.A." The main handle side says "Compliments of - SUGAR CREEK CREAMERY COMPANY" The main blade has no opening and closing snap. The secondary blade also has no opening and closing snap. Neither blade has a half stop. Each handle side has a crack at the secondary blade pivot pin. But overall, this pocket knife is still in GOOD condition. It did need a little cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

It is a The Ideal, two blades, one tang stamp, two springs, 3 1/8" closed, tipped bolsters, advertising, pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says "The Ideal (over) U.S.A." The main handle side says "SNAVELY & DOSCH, INC." The other handle side has nothing, it is blank. The main blade has an ok opening and closing snap. The secondary blade also has an ok opening and closing snap. Neither blade has a half stop. Overall, this pocket knife is in VERY GOOD condition. It did require a little cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

The main handle side says "McCRAINE TRACTOR CO. - JOHN DEER SALES & SERVICE - HAWKINSVILLE & UNADILLA" There appears to be two possible spelling errors in the advertising. McCRAINE should be McCRANIE and DEER should be DEERE (both "corrections" are per Google). The other handle side has nothing, it is blank. The main blade has a decent opening and closing snap. The secondary blade also has a decent opening and closing snap. Both blades have an ok half stop. Contrary to how it appears in a couple of the pictures, the secondary blade does NOT have a broken or rounded tip. Overall, this pocket knife is in VERY GOOD condition. It did NOT need any cleaning at all. I took some pictures and here it is.

I bought this pocket knife back in June, 2021. It is a CAMILLUS 60, three blades (one has a file), two tang stamps, 3 1/8" closed, milled liners, tip bolsters, "split spring" (I know it is not a true "split spring"), whittler pattern or style of pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp, long line, says "CAMILLUS (over) NEW YORK (over) USA" The main blade back tang stamp says"60"

I bought this pocket knife back in November, 2022. It is a CAMILLUS 60, three blades (one has a file), 3 1/8" closed, two tang stamps, milled liners, fancy springs, tip bolsters, "split spring" (I know it is not a true "split spring"), whittler pattern or style of pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp, short line, says "CAMILLUS (over) NEW YORK (over) USA" The main blade back tang stamp says "60"

That is a beautiful knife Skip, one of the nicest Camillus knives I’ve seen.

Back in August of 2019, I bought a Schrade 863 pocket knife. This pocket knife came with it. It is a KENT, two blades, one tang stamp, one spring, 3 1/8" closed (not including the bail), tipped bolsters, pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says "KENT (over) N.Y. CITY (over) U.S.A." The main blade has no opening and closing snap. The secondary blade has an ok opening and closing snap. Neither blade has a half stop. This is a CAMILLUS "other brand" pocket knife.

Found this little KENT cattle knife in Pocomoke City, MD this morning. The shop owner knows I'll buy the good stuff so he gave it to me. Nice guy. It's a bit odd because the shield is on the pile side and a fancy curled liner. Never seen that before. I always buy a KENT knife when I see one. They just appeal to me. J.O.

Back in July of 2020, I bought this advertising pocket knife. It is a CAMILLUS, one blade, two tools (a cap lifter or bottle opener and a can opener), one tang stamp, one tool stamp, two springs, 3 1/2" closed, tipped bolsters, advertising, pocket knife. It has a "Sunshine Biscuits" shield. The main blade front tang stamp says "CAMILLUS (over) CUTLERY CO (over) CAMILLUS, N.Y. (over) U.S.A." The can opener front stamp says "CAN OPENER" The main blade has no opening and closing snap. The cap lifter or bottle opener has an ok opening and closing snap. The can opener also has an ok opening and closing snap. Neither the blade or the tools have a half stop.

Here is another old Camillus

This pocket knife recently arrived in a group or lot of pocket knives that I bought. This particular pocket knife was NOT the target of my purchase. However, it did end up being added to my general pocket knife collection. It is a SYRACUSE, two blades, one tang stamp, 3 3/8" closed, two springs, tipped bolsters, pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says, "SYRACUSE (over) KNIFE (over) COMPANY (over) SYRACUSE, N.Y." The main blade has a good half stop along with a good opening and closing snap. The secondary blade also has a good half stop, with a good opening and closing snap. Overall, this pocket knife is in GOOD condition. I had to clean it up a bit. I took some pictures and here it is.

It came in a group or lot of pocket knives that I bought. I did NOT buy the group or lot to obtain this particular pocket knife. But, it turned out to be a keeper. It is a KINGSTON, two blades, one tang stamp, 3 1/8" closed, tipped bolsters, pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says, "KINGSTON (over) U.S.A." The main blade has no half stop. It does have a soft opening and closing snap. The secondary blade also has no half stop. But, it does have an ok opening and closing snap. Overall, this pocket knife is in VERY GOOD condition. It did NOT need any cleaning at all. I just wiped it off. I took some pictures and here it is.

But, it did turn out to be a keeper. It will be added to my general pocket knife collection. It is a CLEARCUT, two blades, two tang stamps, 3 5/16" closed, tipped bolsters, one spring, pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says "CLEARCUT (over) GEO (over) WORTHINGTON (over) CO" The secondary blade front tang stamp also says "CLEARCUT (over) GEO (over) WORTHINGTON (over) CO" Per GOINS', the 1998 edition, one description says, "c 1902-1949" and another GOINS', the 1998 edition, description says, "c 1892-1949" The main blade has no half stop with a weak opening and closing snap. The secondary blade has no half stop with a weak opening and closing snap. This pocket knife is in GOOD condition. It needed a little bit of cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.
