I guess I'd better dig up my old 77OT that I've been using for years and continue on. It'll do the job but not with the class of that beautiful Muskrat.

I have a very rough idea what kind of an investment the OP has in these absolutely primo tested era Case's ... impressive to say the least ! I've seen a few of these on eBay & can't say I've ever seen any in better shape - every one posted is in better condition than the last. What truly amazes me is that there were guys back in those days that had the wherewithal to put Case knives aside for the collector market and not use them so that they would be preserved for infinitum (thing to remember is that just putting them away isn't enough - those old blades need to be maintained so its no accident they haven't rusted over time just stored in their own boxes) - I guess they must have been much more forward thinking than I would have been

I bet every one of those truly primo vintage knives has a story ... again, the fact they weren't used and haven't rusted, wasn't an accident.
NOOB question of the day for the vintage guys ... when the tested era knives were new - were they made so the working man could afford them, or were they made for the budding collector market way back then ?

They were definitely made to use.Very few are left in unused condition,That's why they are worth so much.

Larry, nice cokebottles.

The flat blade is super nice! Is the shield plain / unlettered on the flat blade?
