Posted this in another thread but decided it belonged here.A Carborundum Duo Stone model 92. Two stones(one coarse;one fine) on a spring loaded rotating platform measuring 2" by 12";Bakelite housing and cover(cover has a large piece missing from it). Bottom was loaded with rancid lard oil(see original post for story). Got it all cleaned out and the stones cleaned off with brake cleaner and scuff pad.Works great and the price was right($15).

Found this little rascal in a tackle box yesterday. Orvey says it's a slip stone!

I keep finding them at estate sales......hope someone is gleaning info from this thread....I am starting to.

Scored this chocolate brown bellied smooth as silk stone, and these others in a garage loaded with hand tools on Friday....

I agree, except that I think it is for double edge safety razors. I have one that is somewhat similar in design and the box says that.

Scott - I have a beard but I keep my neck shaved. When I look at that safety razor stone I feel a profound gratitude that I can buy bag of disposable razors! When I was young I used safety razors to shave (no beard then), but even then I just tossed the dull ones instead of sharpening them. In fact, I never knew that special sharpening stones were made for the blades I used. I bet my father did not know that either, or else he would have had one.

I have been picking up a few too Scott.
These two are ones I got at estate sales the last couple weeks.
The Yankee Clipper has the cardboard sleeve that slides over it. Love the graphic on it.
The Yankee Clipper is 6-1/2" X 1-3/4". I paid $4 for it. I think the price was that high just for the sleeve.
The Carboloy is 4-1/4" X 3/4".

Hey Scott - I definitely am getting something out of it ... Had a number of them for years to sharpen fillet knives, others for hooks... A few weeks back I bought a bag of sharpening stones of all kinds for $6 that included a Norton Stone in an original box at a yard sale!!

So, here's one......
Every time (only been about a half dozen times) I place the blade on it it feels like it's going to slip right off the stone......very, very smooth.
Came out of a garage stacked and packed with hand tools....

I suspected this chunk was a sharpening stone/brick of some sort.
Any info would be appreciated.

I realize this is a steel, not a stone, but it is cool. A Keen Kutter sharpening steel. The guard is in the shape of the KK wedge and bar emblem.
