Dogg, don't know the model number, you might try the Buck section on Blade Forums - some heavy duty Buck collectors hang out there.

Jerry, nice modern style knife - will be interested in your observations once you get it and use it. OH

My latest is the beautiful Buck 560 that Dimitri so graciously provided for the May drawing on AAPK, it came today and is absolutely mint, slick as a tiger sliding downhill on Vaseline - smooth and light with a perfect finish. OH

Got it today, a day earlier than expected. What a nice surprise. Colonel, it's a good solid knife, not small at about 4-1/2" closed. It feels good and substantial in the hand without being bulky. For me, the hole in the blade works much better than a thumb stud (it's not an AO). I'm a little awkward with the opening but I think with a little practice I could get used to it. Nice knife. Good and sharp. Well worth what I paid for it and it's Made in America. I like it.

There are no plans to carry it and use it. For me, it's a little large for that but as slim as it is and with all the different carry options I think anyone who likes a larger knife would be happy with it. I'll be sticking with my Schrade 863.

Thank you Jerry for your observations on the Buck 722 - as modern knives go, that one is pleasing to the eye. Like you, I prefer a blade hole to assist opening as opposed to a thumb-stud. OH

If you added a 722 to your herd, I don't think you would be disappointed. It also comes in gray or green.

Jerry thats a sweet looking knife..THIS is why I carry Buck knives,I was doing a job for an older tradesman today and he comented on my two knives I had on me he liked my. 112. But the jury was still out on the VantageForce. So when I gut the job done he gave me a or should I say his version of a modern knife(482 B&C club) he said will never replace his old second version 110..What a day!! :)

Very nice gentlemen, the 500 series are hard to beat for great carry knives.

Just celebrated my 30th work anniversary with my company last week; in lieu of sending standardized gifts (such as clocks and watches - I still own/wear two watches from my 15th and 25th years) they are now sending a link/password to an on-line catalog with thousands of items to pick from. You're awarded points based on total years of service and you select from the offerings. To my delight I found a Buck Knife section in the catalog (contained about 36 Buck Knives) - most importantly the listing included a black Micarta handled Model 124. I've wanted one of these for awhile, so I just placed my order - it is supposed to arrive in a week. How cool is that? You can bet I will post pictures once I get it into my hands. OH

Here is my latest "Buckquistion";a new in package 110 folder with sheath.Don't know what year it is and it doesn't really matter to me. Picked it up for $20.
Interesting that the way it is packaged shows a picture of the knife blade opened but it has the nail nick on the wrong side.

Jerry, a nice condition, pre-1986 Buck 103 is definitely on my list of "must own" knives. I've been outbid on a few that I wanted on e-bay, but I am patient (and I've been buying other stuff I want as it presents itself). Bruce

OH;Hows she compare with the 119?

Dogg, the Buck 119 and the Buck 124 are very different knives; you can feel the difference as soon as you pick up the 124. The 119 (8 oz.), while it has a big blade, has the same feel/balance in my hand that the other 100 series fixed blade knives have (even though the 119 handle is bigger than a 105 or 118). The 124 (13.5 oz.) fills my hand, the handles are much thicker and the tang is solid, right though the pommel - which makes the handle thicker. The spine of the 124 is about the same thickness as the 119, but the blade is fuller, wider, and longer. I will get some comparison pictures and put them up (if it will ever stop raining!) I will say this, I've never had the desire to own a big, Bowie type knife before, but the Buck Frontiersman changed my mind about that, and it is certainly the one to consider if you ever want to add a "Grizzly Skinner" to your collection - and of course, it's a Buck! OH

Okay, here you go Dogg; views of the Buck 124 bracketed with a Buck 119 and a Buck 110. The 119 is on top, with a 110 on the bottom; views from top to botton are laid flat, edge up, and spine up. This should give you a good comparison of the size differences. OH
