Thanks Harold,I'm still learning fortunately. I changed background to white.

A very old Camillus.You can see the faint remains of CAMILLUS in block letters etched on the pruner , in the right light. A west coast knife ,seems most of those I've gotten, have the pruner straightened.Both blades same stamp.

West coast knife,I think both blades have been reprofiled ? Seems about all farmers I've seen come from out there are? It is a mystery to me... Otherwise very nice knife. Thanks Mike for putting me in touch.

NICE roosters Lyle!! All are very nice, but I really like the ebony Camillus. You're getting good with that scanner, keep up the good work.

I would like to know... if they were used in the vineyards. orange fields
or if you could get those with a different blade type

I've figured the vineyards and fruit trees usage too Cates.I know that nice old Camillus of yours is the same.And that girl that we got those from had 5 I know of ,all but the composition IXL were straightened,at least the 3 I had.I'm pretty sure yours was also.I know a fellar that has 3 or 4 more,I was going to ask him about his and the same questions we have.

I've got an etched Remington( not vivid,but readable) with pretty full blades the same,and I've seen two other Remingtons just like it.I'll post it in a while,don't want to burn everybody out.The blades look too large to be reprofiled, but I don't have a Remington with full blades to be sure???

I think you would have to make a concerted effort to get them that straight. Unless you're good,you'll put a belly in most blades.Funny thing is on the two I just posted,the speys look unused.

I looked at them again and some are semi-straight.


The Dreer looks almost factory,but I think not.

Thanks for looking David and Mark.I need somebody to share with.

Here's a JA Henckels in jigged bone,although this one is unnumbered ,this is their # 769 pattern. This one is 3 15/16". The bone sure looks like the bone on the 1st two Bokers in this thread by Greedygulo.It also is a lot like the A Fields bone.

Here is a very nice Joseph Elliot,probably of later assembly than most of this pattern.

I have been told ,by a reliable UK source, it is almost assuredly a pattern number Roger.Probably made around the '60s.

Well ,considering the weather here,I thought I'd throw another log on the fire. Someone has to do it or we'll get cold.

This is an unusual one,in that it is not handled in natural material.and not made by Schrade . Apx. 85% I've seen are handled in natural materials. The majority of those not, are of Schrade origin. Others were made,but apparently,not in the same numbers or diversity of makers. I would say the chronology of materials and this pattern are in play there..

Seems this cell has been rather stable,fingers crossed. She has a little fire in her, fitting for the season here.
