Here's a couple I picked up recently.A Bear MGC guthook and a Buck 119.

Wow that Buck is one bad lookin' knife! Looks like it's built like a tank for sure, meant for some heavy duty use. Sheath looks nicely worn in as well, love that style of sheath for easy access, great find!

Here is one I snagged a week or so ago. Not cheap but not wallet breaking either. I have shown to a few collectors. A couple were open enough to suggest possibly from the 1800's.
Their opinion was led by the way the blade attaches to the horn. It is a swedge fit expanding mount, operated by the two V shaped blocks next to horn. Four hole ares drilled or punched through horn and a soft metal is driven through them to secure the mount and blade. You might note the four larger holes situated around handle at 90 degree points, they have been inlet-ted after the through holes were drilled. Two of the inlets are round one is square and one is Heart shaped. At one time I believe these were probably filled to edge with the soft metal, three have broken and fallen out. The story behind knife was. Seller looked to be in mid 60's, he said it was his Grandpa's and that he always referred to it as his Frontier Knife.

Here's one I got from HH knives, here at the AAPK store. Pretty good shape for it's age.

Just found this post

WB, almost impossible to put a date on that knife. If the way the blade attaches to the handle was patented, then a different story.

To me it looks like a weak handle design, and a lot of work when a couple of pins will do.

Wish I could tell you more, but I have no further info on it and have never seen another quite like it.

I recieved this Case xx LT265-5 as a birthday gift from a good friend a few months back. At first I was pretty unhappy with the sheath itself and the way the blade rattled around inside, even so I didn't let it be known to the giver. I added some mole skin to the plasitic insert and wallah a perfect, tight, rattle free fit. I still think that the sheath is sub-par but at least it's not a percussion instrument after the addition of the mole skin . As far as the knife goes it pretty darn good. I took it along on a 10 day vacation to Destin, Fl. recently. It worked like a champ cleaning fish. From flounder to speckled trout to sheeps head to bull reds, it made the chore of cleaning a breeze. The rubberized handle was slip free even coated with fish slime and guts. The blade edge is still sharp after 30 or so fish with no touch up necessary in the mean time. A prom queen she'll never be but for a work horse boat knife she's a keeper. This fall i'll give it a try in the woods for feild dress duty

One of these is a pal,the three with stag handles are craftsman ( big one ) one has a cammillus blade and the other I'm not sure about. The reason I know the one with the blood groove is a callimus is because he'd used the guard on another knife and I realised
what it was. In the other picture is a couple of cases, 2 remington,a bear and sons bowie,hand made one,a buck 119. Hope you like.

Here is my find of yesterday;a Western fillet knife model S-W766 still in the original box with instructions circa 1960-1970.I don't normally collect fillet knives although I have a bunch of them but this one was too nice to pass up.And the proce wasn't too bad:$20.

"Hunter's Mate"; Wonda-Wood handle w/black & white discs at ends; 5" upswept saber ground blade w/thumb ramp; alum. guard & birds head pommel; about 1953 to about 1963. pattern 148WW. Original sheath. Nice!

As a young boy, age 5 or 6, back in 1952 or '53, this is the first hunting knife I can ever remember seeing, on our kitchen table, belonged to one of my father's friends. I thought it was beautiful then, as I do now. These are destined to go to my grandsons & great-grandson, (may need a couple more yet.) Top one is Belknap Hardware / Bluegrass brand.
The rest are Kinfolks Y-330. The 2nd & 4th ones down appear kind of dark, they were apparently very rusted at one time & cleaned up on a belt sander . I smoothed them to 220 - 330, then did a Wayne Goddard 'mustard finish' on the blades. I refer to them as my 'Polish damascus'. I have never seen a "Case" marked knife like these, can anyone tell me if Case made these also?

I guess this is about as good a place as any to place this. You don't run across a part set very often.
I like it that the sheath even in as bad condition as it is was there. I like to take the decrepit one and have an exact replica made and then keep the old one with them. The three pieces will display nicely or make them more sale-able if I can't find the other or grow weary of looking. Sort of like hunting for a Jack-a-lope, you have a feeling they are out there but they never turn up.
