Think I'll just scrap the whole idea.

I don't have the funds or the patience for this project.
Either that or I'll just look for the years regardless of the Pattern #. That would be an easier, faster and cheaper way to do it.

Back in mid September, I got this idea that I would like to collect a set of 5 Case knives. One for the birth year of each family member of my family.
They are as follows.:
1972-(8-dot)
1975(5-dot)
2001-(9-dot)
2003-(7-dot)
2007-(3-dot)
First family member found.
This 1972 Sod-Buster Jr. that I recieved from treefarmer is the start of my "Case Family".

I'm really stoked that my "Case Family" collection has gotten off to a good start! One down, four to go.
Thanks Philip!

These 5 Case knives that represent my family will be a
very special part of my collection & I'll always remember where or from who I got them.

Tom, I did this a few years ago. Bought a 54 Case Trapper made in the year of their birth for my son and both of my grandsons. It may have been a waste of time and money though. I got the feeling they were not impressed. Don't know for sure though.

Those look awesome Jerry!

I'm sure that it was not a waste Jerry! Sure wish I had a nice knife from my dad or grandfather! I'm sure they cheerish it and they will cheerish the heck out of it when your not around anymore but I hope that's a long, long, long ways off.

Finally found this thread again!
And after almost 3 years, I finally finished my "Case Family Collection". One Case knife in the birthyear of each family member. May not sound hard to do but doing it from Germany turned it into a challenge.
Anyways, I made it.
A very special thanks goes out to treefarmer, Paladin, 1976redrider & Sanders Knives who helped me come up with 4 of these knives. Couldn't have done it without your help. Thanks Guys!
The 5th knife I found on eBay Germany just this last week. Would have been cooler if they were all from the U.S. but it turned out how it turned out.
Took a bunch of pictures of them this morning & here they are.:

And the rest of the pictures.
Thanks for looking friends!

Yes, I am so happy to have this little set completed. Believe it or not, it really means a lot to me. The love of my family, my native country & my hobby together in a set of knives. It's a cool feeling I can't really describe.

A very "special" set of knives in my collection.

Glad you were able to complete this project, Tom. And happy to help out.

I hope the recent graduate gets many years of enjoyment out of the Congress.

That is the coolest idea I've heard in a long time Tom. I was not aware you were doing that but I'm happy you finally completed your task. The only birthday knife I've done was I got my youngest a CASE "Texas Lockhorn" for 1981.
Congrats Tom

Thanks David!

Appreciate your comments Buddy!
I've been thinking I might add one more knife to this little set. A 1993 for the year we got married.
Gives me a reason to buy another Case knife.
