"How about a Barlow", indeed Tim!
I like how "round" your knife looks, to say nothing of those beautiful covers.
I must be getting old and senile, ::tired:: cuz I now find myself admiring the big "R" on the bolsters ::hmm:: that everyone dislikes so much. ::facepalm::

I agree with you, Marco! Much better to see the “R” there than a plain bolster. I think it adds character. Keep in mind that’s what Russell did back in the day, and everyone likes those old Russells! Not the thread for a Russell, but just making a point. Think there’s a similarity? :D

Very much so, Tim, maybe even more than similar.
It's odd to me that some guys didn't object to the "R" on the Russell knives, yet find it objectionable on a Rough Rider, just boils down to personal preference, I guess.
I'm REALLY liking that Russell Barlow you posted, even what was done to the blade tip whatever that was.
I have an older Barlow with nearly identical coloring and it's 9" oal, nice n' big!

I don’t find the “R” objectionable. Here’s a comparison of the same pattern with and without the letter on the bolster.

I like ‘em both! Good looking knives either way! ::tu:: And I like the leaves for the background! Good idea you got there, Joe!

Me too, although, the model with the "R" seems to stand out a bit more than the one without it. Perhaps it's the color, too! ::hmm::
Thanks for the comparison shots as well, Joe, they make it much easier to compare the 2 knives.

Still yet another of my relatively new RR’s - tortoise shell Trapper. No “R” on the bolster this time. Your tortoise shell made me think of this one, Joe!

I like the R on the bolster also.

Those tortoise shell knives look good, Tim and Joeradza.

I must admit I prefer them without the R. And the faux tortoiseshell sure looks good!

If we're voting, I vote for no "R".

Nice knife, Tim.
Those T/shell covers are very "warm" looking.
As for the "R" on the bolsters, I vote either way!

I like the tortoise shell also ::nod::

Here is a trio of RR electrician's knives:

Real nice, Adam! What is that handle on the left?

I suppose these three show us that the “R” on the handle is basically a random thing with RR.

I might be wrong, but it seems to me that the "R" is only on their Reserve series "RRR" models. ::shrug::

Sorry. I took this picture early in the morning and the lighting wasn't the best.

The knife on the left is the Coal Miner electrician's knife. I believe it has buffalo horn handles.

Great new knife, ::tu:: Tim, you shouldn't lose that one anytime soon ::huff:: with all that color, ::groove:: but you might mistake it for a snake! ::shrug::

Thanks, Jeepergeo and Marco! This goes well with my Case Red Rattlesnake! I’ve been looking for the Kissing Crane Rattlesnake, but no luck yet.

Now that's a Rough Rider fan, David! ::tu::
I personally like most RR models, but not having seen their Sodbuster model prior to your post I can say I definitely like that one too.
Your displays are very well organized and pleasant to look at also!

Thank you Sir, I am somewhat of a fan. I have 95 RR's and 3 RRR's. Many of them are featured in my pictorial book of knives "The Cutting Edge: Man's Most Important Invention"

"Somewhat of a fan"? Wow!
With 98 pieces in your possession I'd call that being much more than just a fan, David, you've gotta give yourself "enthusiast" status at least!
If 98 pieces from my knives were singled-out, that would constitute 1/3 of my entire collection!
Pray tell, where can I find your book? ::shrug:: Thx!
