All About Pocket Knives

I got these in the mail today. The sod buster is a gift from Mike (XXcasXX) Thanks Mike! And the Switch, pencil sharpener and LED key ring light came from Scott (Triple F) thanks Scott. Love the knife and the extras buddy!

This one just arrived.
A Queen #18 with Winterbottom Composite handles. Circa 1960's.
The #18 is a spear point pattern of the #10 Heavy Jack.
Blades are a bit worn but the price was right.

I certainly think that the ivory ban legislation has been ill-conceived, and the income from a regulated ivory trade could have actually been used to elephants' benefit. However, unrestricted free trade (laissez faire) (spelling?) has actually benefited Communist China more than any other country, and the virtual death of heavy industry in the United States, not to mention the loss of millions (no, not thousands) of American jobs. Unrestricted trade and totally restricted trade are neither the answer. It is a delicate balance, and right now the pendulum has swung away from American jobs. The big money that results from outsourcing has remained in the hands of one percent of Americans, but not most of us, and to add insult to injury, much of those billions is hidden in out-of-country tax-free bank accounts, or otherwise sheltered from the taxation that you and I have to pay. So I respectfully disagree.

This neat Easy Open Jack arrived today and is a bit of a mystery 'cause I can't fully read the tang stamp.
I believe it's a QCCC (Queen City Cutlery Co.) stamp but can't be sure. The stamp looks to have the same "framing" that Queen used around the QCCC lettering but the letters are illegible. Also, it follows Queen's pattern of putting the pen blade on the pile side instead of the mark side (just like their #10 Heavy Jack).
Anyway, Here's a pic. I'm going to sharpen it and carry it for a while. Love this knife!

Why do you feel you need to sharpen it? That edge looks just fine to me!

Some recent acquisitions. Not exactly what I usually collect pattern-wise...although the handle materials are my usual favorites: ivory, black pearl, stag (of course!) and smooth white bone. I haven't been a big fan of wood handled knives in the past, but the Otter Messer Navy knife might change my feelings about that.

That's what I thought when I first saw the stamp but looking at it on several angles and under magnification, I don't believe it's a Hammer Brand. I'm not ruling it out but I'm leaning against it.
There is definitely a "framing" stamp around some faint lettering and the first letter looks a lot like a Q.

I can't get Hammer Brand out of that. The first thing that popped into my mind when I saw it was an old Ulster stamp. Ulster over a curved line kind of like the Marbles stamp. I did a brief search but couldn't find what was/is in my mind's eye.

Camillus did a line of knives for Stanley but nothing with a Kentucky Socket Set in it. That strikes me as a Pacific Rim product.

This minty KBAR came today as well as another KBAR which I will have to post later.

A couple of GEC's made for Plaza Cutlery found their way to the door. The Trapper came last week and the Conductor arrived this morning.

Nice knives. The conductor is one of the better patterns GEC made. I have one in American Elk and love it. Is that conductor older stock or did GEC do a special recent run just for Plaza?

I don't know who Plaza is, but I sure like the knives.
