All About Pocket Knives

I don't see a thing that I don't like about that knife. Nice pattern, great blades and looks like it would feel good in the hand. ___Dave

Another beautiful Bowie to add to the collection. How many of these Schrade Bowie's do you have in your collection now mate. Seems i have heard about a few.

I have always had an affinity with John Primble knives, and it wasn't until recently that i knew they made a fixed blade knife, as i had never seen one before.

One poked its head up on the "bay", but the scales were fairly beaten up. That looked like an opportunity for me to get my first one. I sent it to the Master (HW) and he fixed a very nice set of Rams Horn covers on it. What a great job Herman did with it, and i am now extremely happy to have my first John Primble fixed blade knife.....it is a corker!!!

Bob Cargill started making the Cripple Creek knives at Lockport Illinois in 1981. Except for knives made in 1981, all knives have the year of manufacture stamped on the master blade's reverse tang (pile side?). He relocated operations to Tennessee in 1986 and in 1987 changed his stamp to "Old Fort, TN". Your knife still has the Lockport stamp on it but has "87" stamped on the secondary pen blade tang. Unless someone more knowledgeable than I comes along and disputes it, I'm going to say your knife was made in Tennessee in 1987 just before the change in the stamp. I don't have a clue what that does to the value but as popular as Cargill's Cripple Creek knives are, I would think it has some relevancy. (or maybe not) Also, the stamp on the handle usually has some negative impact on value but since it's a Cripple Creek, who knows.

All in all, nice find.

Glennbad that's a sweet Wharn and bare head piece. Coats is good. Schradenut, that's great horn on a sweet knife too. Drukai I mentioned, beautiful pattern and bone, like the buffalo shield too.

Home again ,Home again jigedy jig. Here's my very interesting , varied and quite productive [in my opinion] mail basket. I'm too tired an worn out to explain but I will post all in their respective threads tomorrow.

Today's mail call sure blew the budget all to heck....but with these to look at, who cares.

Herman Williams has been working with some new acrylics called Raffir...the 2 Sharpfingers and the first and third 33OT's. The second 33OT with brass bolsters has the same abalone veneer acrylic used by GEC, and for the forth 33OT, Herman used some tortoise shell acrylic I picked up at the Oregon knife show. Schrade PH2 with Loveless rivets, white bone handles and blue liners. The Case letter opener with German Stag was re-handled by Herman. The Moore Maker is factory stock...no idea whose factory though. The Imperial will soon be on it's way to Herman for a party dress as well. If anyone had told me that some day I'd be collecting letter openers, I'd of said they were crazy....but then, I used to think that 3 or 4 pocket knives were all a man needed.

All I got in the mail was one little old Canal Street muskrat with orange curly maple handles.

Thanks Phil...I sure do like those round threaded bolsters on your muskrat....Canal Street sure knew how to turn out a nice knife.

Most tortoise shell acrylics I've come across looked nothing like it, but that one looks great!
