Hervorragende bilder!!
Thanks for posting those, Tom. You should go down there once a week and take some pics to post, I really like the peek at German trains/rails that you gave us. Those first couple of pics really tell a story too, especially with the couple in the background. ::tu:: ::tu:: ::tu:: ::tu:: ::tu::

Well, I'll be taking my daughter there every Sunday evening for the next few years so I'll try to take my tablet with me once in a while. We'll see what shows up there over the course of time but I wouldn't expect much variety beings it will always be about the same time of the week. Sunday evenings. Oh, and it will be dark at that time soon as well so I'll try to take a few more pictures there before winter time comes and it's too dark for taking pictures. ::nod:: ::tu::

Add: We also have to pick her up there on Fridays at different times, but normally in the afternoon hours. Only problem is that I'll be at work on most of those fridays. Stay tuned for Friday November 11th. I have vacation time that day. I turn 50 on the 10th so I took 2 days of my vacation time that thursday & friday. ::tu::

How about some Southern Pacific steam?? This is an old video and not mine, but I never get tired of seeing SP 4449. The town in California where I grew-up was on an SP branch line, and the mainline through Central California was not very far away. I wasn't born in time to see any SP steam engines and it is hard for me to believe my father saw these beauties all the time. I can't imagine a time when seeing a big steam engine flying by was just another day...

I ended up taking a day off from work today because we had some fire wood delivered to our house. Anyways, I drove to the train station to pick up Jazlin & here is what I saw. ::tu::

Tom - I'm curious about the electric in the last picture. What is the story with the English signage on it? Why is it in English?

::doh:: I have to do some researching.

You can hardly make it out but on the second to last picture on the left side there is the word "RAIL-POOL".
I googled that and they rent out trains. Like a Rent a Truck would rent out trucks. These trains can be used throughout the European track system. If I remember correctly some of the box cars behind it had some Italien words or names on them. So this may have been a train that came over from Italy but I'm guessing here.

Other than that, English is a very commonly used language for advertisement in Germany. Music on the radio is about 95-98% english songs as well. ::nod:: ::tu:: ::super_happy::

US armed forces were here in huge nummbers from 1945 - about ::hmm:: 1990. That's about the time they started to reduce troop strengths over here. I remember because I was in the Army from Nov. 90 - April 93. Many military posts around ours closed before our post closed. Our post had shooting ranges and we poor fools had to go out to the ranges and shoot up all the ammunition that had been ordered years in advance for the troops that were then no longer here to use it. We were at the shooting ranges all the time. And I was the "Unit Armorer" in my company. Which means I spent countless hours in the "Arms -Room" or at ranges. I did get qualifed "Expert" on all of our weapons though. I had as much practice time & ammunition as I wanted. Even more than I wanted. ::doh::

 Sorry, must have gotten side tracked. (play on words intended)

Add: If you go back up to my post from Sunday you can see some Italien box cars. Guess they send us a lot of freight. ::shrug::

The wife and I hit the Timonium Fairgrounds Train Show on Saturday and the B&O Railroad Museum today, we had an excellent time. Posted some vids on my YouTube channel, here's some pix. I took a lot of pictures.

Some more. The main building is the old Roundhouse and it is gorgeous. Not the best neighborhood in Baltimore but there's safe and secured parking. The third from last picture is of the old Big Hook that was part of the Cumberland Tool Cars. My dad ran it on occasion when there was a derailment.

Some good stuff there, John, really good stuff! I think, if I had gone there, I would have spent an inordinate amount of time staring at that Hudson Streamliner, awesome!!!!!

*Edit - that was a different engine mentioned on the same placard, "That C&O never saw service!" That one was a steam turbine.

I think they made the tender out of a passenger car. At least that's what it looked like.

I'm having a hard time deciding if the Chessie L-1 streamliner or the B&O EA diesel is my favorite in your pics! Those two are a great steam-diesel overlap story. The L-1 was actually built 10 years AFTER the EA.

That museum has an amazing collection, so much more than I posted here. Definitely worth a visit if you happen to be in the area. 😉👍
