Although my first knife was a Camillus scout/utility...I didn't start to collect them until becoming a member here at AAPK.

I like that Weidmansheill chose to omit the bail, IMHO it makes it more pocket friendly.
I just got to wondering though, where do hardcore scout/utility collectors stand on the subject of bail/no bail? Does the lack of a bail, fail to meet the criteria of the pattern? Or, is it simply a scout/utility without a bail?

I was a Scout back in the day ....1960s/70s and did carry a pocket knife So....... i guess i am a fan of them ,,,,but there`s just too many to collect . So i visit here to read from time to time

WB...I think having a bale or not doesn't make much difference ...atleast to me anyways. ...even though manufacturers are putting out knives with out bales and are calling them Scout patterns...I do believe a "True Scout Knife" would have a bale..like you said,I think that is when the word "Utility" should come in...but for marketing purposes Scout sounds much more appealing.

OH...I purchased an old wooden Camillus Hardware store display to put all my Scouts/Utility knives in....I figured that I could squeeze 40 in it...since I have a tendency to put things off I now have 62, according to my collection app on my computer.

That’s the part that makes it so easy to fall in love with them....Its easy to find Scout knives..but not so easy to find the perfect (Mint) scout in a particular brand.
I've only sold or traded maybe half a dozen Scout knives since I've been collecting...and in every case it was so I could upgrade that particular brand.

Nice pair JR . I picked up an Imperial 5 tool scout with a philips screwdriver and the scout shield. I'll get some pics up asap (I'm not home). I wanted to ask you if you've ever seen one with the master etched? I have a Camillus 5 tool with the blade etched but I've never seen an Imperial like that. The Imperial is a little smaller as well. Let me know what you think.

Thanks wazu. ..Yes ,I have seen them..but do not own one. ..like you,I have a 5 blade Camillus..my etch has worn off though.
I would like to have both with a visible etch.

JR: A very nice pair of scouts. I don't think I have ever seen scales like those on the Weidmanshield.

Yeah...that was my first also. ...they have another jigging I like its called "stingray"....looks awesome.

This one goes back a few years...the first Napanoch I've owned, I'm sure its pre 1919.

The NY scout is amazing. What happened to the tang stamp on the Cat? It looks like it was best 2 out of 3 for the press It sure is beautiful

I got this one a couple weeks ago & just got the rust & gunk cleaned off it somewhat, still needs more cleaning though.
I suppose this falls into the Scout Knife category, though perhaps a US Army Scout!

Anyone looking for Kutmaster GS knives....heres 2 that look to be in pretty good condition...I would say they will go for a reasonable price as well.

Cool Utica Kutmaster "Half-Scout" that just arrived today from Steve Sanders AAPK store. This knife is the same frame size as the Utica Featherweight Girl Scout knife (except it has a steel frame and two steel springs), it has the same green Delrin you see on some other Utica GS knives (look at Johnnie's picture just above this post) and the same great snap. Per Steve it came out of a collection of 1960's and 1970's knives - so I am guessing it is from that era. I like this combination of blades and can add this one to my small collection of this configuration. Anyone seen one of these before? I am real pleased with this knife. OH

I was thinking of buying that one myself. ....very cool knife.
