All About Pocket Knives

Boyz, when you buy from Scott (TripleF), not only do you get great service, you get treated like you're part of the family. I bought this Premier Lifetime Jack from him and when it showed up today she was outfitted like she was going to the prom. In the package with her was a pen, a lanyard/fob and a brand new, unopened deck of USMC playing cards.

The knife is outstanding. Half-stops on both blades. Snap like the crack of a rifle shot. Blades very near full and terrific bone handles. No buyer's remorse here. Thank you very much Scott.

These arrived yesterday. The flakes in the Imperial are tough to capture in a pic and are beautiful.
Top knife has pinned-on scales (not shell).

Yeah Scott, Imperial made some really nice knives before they went to the hollow handles. ___Dave

Just received this Imperial E/O from Scott. It has what appears to be real tortoise shell scales. These were illegal after about 1972. If I am correct about the scales the knife will be 45 plus years of age. Although showing some wear and tear it has held up nicely.

I just got this Robeson 633594 stockman. Does anyone know if this is Bakelite or delrin?

I don't know how old your very nice Robeson is, but Delrin was first used on knife handles 1960/61.

I don't think it's either one of those. It looks like good 'ol rough black which is more "rubbery". Maybe robeson called it black composition, I don't know.

Got a bunch of junkers but this was the cream of the crop. An Elinox Victorinox Picnicker muti tool knife with serrated main blade....RARE.

Turns out the Imperial I posted above was made sometime between the early 20s and 1935. Much older than I originally thought. Anybody have a way of determining the authenticity of real tortoise shell?

Here are two more Queen's for the collection.

A gunstock with yellow jigged handles, 1095 steel (This was a SFO for CK in 2009) and a #10 with no tang stamp and a worn out blade etch. Probably made in the early 60's.

Yes. He did a run of gunstocks and trappers in yellow delrin. I'm not sure if he did any other patterns in yellow. He also did some trappers in smooth black cherry delrin and still has some in stock along with some copperheads in wood. Probably one of the best deals for a Queen knife. I had one of the copperheads and it was an awesome knife for such a low price point.

The best way I know of is to stick your tongue on it for a second. If it doesn't have a burning feeling then it's real tortoise. If not it's celluloid.

It's funny. I bought this pattern knife once and sold it. Saw another for sale.....bought it and sold it. Bought another one again but now I'll keep it.

Thank you KnifeSlinger. Tried the tongue test. No burning sensation. From the git go it impressed me with its solidity and heft. I believe it is the real thing.

Usually if i say "Nice Buck" it is hunting season, but not this time. Here is a 'nice Buck' in good condition. I don't specifically collect Buck's but i do have about 25 because they are an important part of USA cutlery.

Arrived today all the way from South Carolina .......... Some time ago 'big monk' and I did a little business over 2 very nice Barlows he had .... and I wanted/needed/ Just had to have.
Monk doesn't usually post outside the USA but he kindly did so on this occasion.
Well............. wouldn't you know it the knives went into a postal facility in Miami and never came out Well not out the way they were supposed to ... we assume some thieving rat bag took them out via the back door.

Not a thing Monk or I had any control over just one of those rotten things that unfortunately happens now & then.
Then despite the fact he wasn't responsible Monk decided I should have some sort of replacement 'make-good' knife .... unexpected and uncalled for but it speaks volumes about this Gentlemen's character.
And not just any old knife ... this beautiful GEC #72 - managed to avoid that 'black-hole' inside the USPS - & arrived today DownUnder.
I am still waiting to hear from Monk what the handle material is but I do know one thing it is damn gorgeous.
UPDATE ... the handle material is Exterior Mammoth Ivory... beautiful!
I have 'met' and made friendships with a lot of nice folk via the AAPK forum but none better that Monk ... thank you kind Sir!

Got this bunch over the last few days.
The swing guard is the first Rough Rider that I've been disappointed with. The knife is okay but the one side of the guard is way too floppy.
The Boker auto is a new smaller handier size. The Case hunter is a dream knife. I honed the #6 Opinel to shaving sharp.

Picked up a handful today at my favorite antique shop.I've bought other stuff from the vendor(no idea who they were)and got some good deals. Found out from the owner of the shop that the stuff belonged to a retired machinist who passed away and his girlfriend is slowly cleaning out his accumulation of stuff.
Anyway here is today's haul:
First up is an unmarked 3 blade(spear point;spey,&pen) utility knife with metal handles.Thought at first it might be a Kingston with the bail missing but on closer examination saw it never had one.Kinda wish it had a screwdriver blade but for $5 I can't complain.
Next is an unmarked(probably B&B or Executive)funny folder with a PPG logo stamped into the handle.Some plating wearing off the handle but otherwise in great shape:$3.
Third is a Hugo Bauerman manicure knife etched USI Clearing;a division of U.S.Industries Inc.Spearpoint master blade;screwdriver/cap lifter, and nail file: $3.
Fourth is a tiny Colonial 2 blade easy open with green celluloid handles in great shape.The expensive one:$8.
Last is actually the most expensive one:A Craftsman peanut in absolutely beautiful condition:$10.
