Just took a peek in on the eaglets ---> http://www.aswp.org/pages/hays-nest
Thought they were gone! A closer look and I saw they had just moved off the nest out to some of the branches.
Won't be long, boys, before they're airborne! ::ds::

Today was the first time I have seen them extend and flap their wings. One flapped his way across the nest.

Whoa, some great pics Scott. Woodpeckers are awesome and the baby turkeys are a treat to get to see. I have never seen them in the wild. ::tu:: ::tu:: ::nod:: ::nod::

I especially the Redheaded Woodpecker, Homer. When I was a boy I lived in a Long Leaf Pine forest and the Redheads were pretty common. These days it is months between sightings.

I also have a soft spot for the Pileated Woodpecker, Scott. In my life, they are the exact mirror image of the Redheads. When I was a boy the Pileateds were very rare. Even living in the woods I would see maybe one a year or less. Now they are quite common. I still love to see them!

A few minutes ago I looked out the kitchen window and for only the 2nd time in my life saw a Pileated Woodpecker.

Thank you dog. What a thrill it would be to see the evidently extinct Ivory Bill. Once in a while the Ivory is reported in Arkansas. But very doubtful.

We get to see and hear the Pileated Woodpeckers pretty often at Starvation Plantation. They are magnificent birds!

Nice photos of Pileated.

Turkey are quite common here in S. Illinois. A couple of years ago I came across 3 that were freshly hatched.

Difficult to call with just the one angle of view. But I favor the Purple Finch. It seems to lack the stronger striping which appears below the reddish chest of the House Finch.

I'm leaning toward a purple finch, as well.
I get them both at the feeder quite often.

That's much a gobbler right there! Big long beard, I can only see his right spur and it too is long. Do y'all have turkey seasons, spring and fall or is he a smart bird that has moved to town? ::hmm::

He's a city bird.
Check out where Cherry Hill, NJ is on the map.
We're far from rural!

The eagles are out of the nest. The camera has been repositioned and is moving around the branches searching. I can only see one eagle tucked in among the leaves.

Yeah, they're venturing further out on the limbs, and the leaves are hiding them pretty good.
Took me a while yesterday to spot both of 'em.
