The rat-tail bolsters are something else I've never seen on one from that late (maybe late '50s -- mid '60s).

Here's a 3 & 4 from what I've learned was the Z series. I'm pretty sure that meant, last of the stuff. These are the only Camillus branded 3's and 4's that had nickel bolsters and not brass- the Z's.

I've seen this Camillus made knife for Crosman and McGrew with this set up, but scarcely with a Camillus blade. I got a couple in boxes which directed my research efforts but to date, there is barely any info on these and I seldom see them around.

While I’ve been a lurker on these forums for years, this is my first post. I just picked this up at a local pawn shop and thought it was interesting enough to warrant a post. M.D.-U.S.N made by Camillus during ww2.

Welcome to the light long time lurker Bfeldman. Now that you've broken the ice, get with it. You probably feel like you "know" just about everyone that posts on AAPK so we're probably not strangers to you.

I hope this isn’t out of line, but I’ve opted to put the above knife up for sale and I think some folks around here might be interested.

You can find the link in my signature. I wasn’t sure of pricing and I’m happy to make a deal, especially with members of this form.

In my opinion, the price is greatly overestimated ::td::.
Be ready for the long wait of your buyer.

I just got this one in my hands. The main blade has no snap at all. The other 2 blades have great snap. As a matter of fact, the main blade doesn't push the spring at all. There doesn't look like there is enough wear to the knife to cause the blade to wear away where it runs on the spring... :? ... More will come to light during a quick clean-up. This one might need to make a visit to my clinic.....
Not in bad shape otherwise. Blades have hardly any wear... just the usual rust, etc.

Thanks for looking everyone.

Well, after looking at my own pictures a little closer, it does look like the main blade was used a lot. There isn't a lot of sharpening wear.... some, but not what I would expect from one with the tang area worn out..... Guess I better think about this a bit.

I got this Camillus rope knife this week pretty cheap. I didn't have one and it looked like it was in good shape so I bid $15 on it and won it at $11.50. What a deal! :D So it's a 4 line tang stamp and I'm guessing that this is some sort of pre delrin composite for handles. Anybody know for sure?

Hey Tommy! It's a pretty sweet knife. A little tight when I got it, but a good flushing and an oil bath revealed a smooth action and a superb half stop. ::super_happy::

Greg, the handles are jigged wood.

Thanks Dimitri! I thought that's what they were when I saw the picture of it but when I got I reallly couldn't see any grain to it. I'll have to re examine it.

Tommy, no not rehandled they came from the factory with horn though they are much rarer than the jigged bone ones. I have seen another one in smooth horn but it was in bad condition.
