This CAMILLUS "72" variation/clone arrived yesterday afternoon and became the latest pocket knife to join my collection and this topic or thread. It is another Ulster 63, 3 blade, swelled center, 3 5/8" closed, 2 tang stamps, "whittler" pocket knife. This is my thirteenth "63", but it is my first "63" with "Ulster" on the shield. It needed some cleaning. I did what I could, took some pictures and here it is.

Skip I would say your knife was made before 1959-60.It has the pins in the bolster.
The couple of Ulster I have where made with the Swinden System ( 1959-60 onwards ) made in the Schrade factory.
I do have a Craftsman made later in the Imperial side of the factory with pins in the bolsters.

What a nice Craftsman / Imperial you have with Etch . Wasnβt aware of the one with the Craftsman etch. Thanks for posting that one
Have this Craftsman 9494 ,been used a bit but still solid and all blades function properly. And the Hollinger Fremont knife in solid shape and will clean it lightly .
Skip that Ulster with Ulster shield is a dandy ,great piece

This "72" clone came in the mail today. It was sent to me by Reverand as a Bomb! Thanks Reverand! I'm sure its a Camillus 72 but the shield is a McGrew. It has a Western tang stamp instead of the McGrew stamp. The pile side is marked stainless W742. Awesome

I'm going to put and edge on it and let it ride in my pocket for awhile! Thanks again Reverand!

It doesn't get any better than that. What AAPK and good people are all about. Kudos Reverend!

Picked this Cheapie up as a project knife. A Camillus long line tang stamp 1047 BSA Whittler. Blades have great snap, no wobble but do have wear. The handles have shrinkage, and are missing the round BSA Shield. Thought this would make a good project knife to clean up the blades & re-handle for a decent EDC. Now to figure what material handles I want to use.

Nice one to fix up Smitty.
I have no suggestions for handle material.
For a shield, how about the bottom of a spent cartridge?
If I remember correctly, a 9MM fits into the vacant spot.

Appreciate it Skip. A 9mm base does fit. Not sure what I will go with yet. Probably make a decision after I decide on the handle material.

I picked up this one at a gunshow yesterday. Rigid RG70, SS, USA. It has been used and sharpened, but is in good shape. I also saw a knife dealer who had a sign on his table that said "Caution, knives are sharp. If you handle one and cut yourself, you are required to buy it as it is contaminated". ?????

I have rehandled a couple of 1047's. The bottom two in this pic. The very bottom is ebony and the one above it is deer antler tine. I like both but the ebony really rocks!
