I enjoyed that article, Ralph.
I have captured many bugs in the rivers I have fished. They are very interesting critters.

Thanks Guys,
Treefarmer, I know my Paw-in-law got at least one buck with it because I helped him drag it out of the woods. I was talking to my wife about it, and I said, "That rifle hasn't brought down a deer in ten years."
She replied, "I didn't think Daddy ever killed a deer. He just liked to go walking around in the woods."
Deer sausage in the pan tonight!

Hello from South Dakota - cold and windy, but the pheasant flew well today. This is the entire bag from 17 gunners - the hunters shown are the NC group posing with the birds. OH

What's the bag limit up there Colonel? In Illinois it used to be three roosters per day with a possession limit of six. That was in 1960. Just looked it up and now it's two and six.

Wind blowing 20 to 30 mph this morning - last day of the hunt - this should be interesting! I'm about an hour west of Mitchell, never seen so many pheasant; SD is truly the place to hunt them. Daily bag limit is three birds per license. OH

Good luck today Bruce!!
The Boy Scout doctrine "ALWAYS BE PREPARED" is never so influential as the planning time before you go camping!!
Next time I post here.....hoping it'll be pictures of our camping outing today!

Hey Scott. Are those bones going to be talking to you tomorrow because you slept on the ground tonight?

Unless something goes terribly wrong, I spent my last night sleeping on the ground several years ago. I like to go camping but I'm going to have an air mattress or a cot under me. My back and shoulders just can't take the punishment.
Have fun Scott and stay warm.

Looks like a cozy "treestand" to me. I just hope you have the power lumbar support and heated seats. Wouldn't want to see you have to rough it.

Looks good to me garddogg56. The ol' Savage 99 at the ready

.
Years ago we used to hunt with deer hounds, spent a lot of cold days sittin' in the cab of the truck with the window down just enough to listen for the hounds. That was 40 years ago but I do have a small propane heater for the shootin' house here in Florida. Roughin' it ain't in my vocabulary any more

Phil, when we wore a younger man's clothes, I don't think we considered that "roughing it".

Hey Bruce - that looks like fun!
I am going to Ringneck Ranch in Kansas in December with several of my old High School buddies. I can't hardly wait.

What a blast we had......
Little late posting pics because I got home from camping, took a nap, went to my grandsons b-day party, then to my sister in-laws, then home to bed and just waking up for a couple hours now at 02:00. Ok. Back to indoor life.
I arrived early and set up camp.
Boys arrived around 4ish.
Cooked hobo meals. After the oldest took his first bite....he said - I wanna eat these every day!!
Fininshed eating, went for a little walk down by the flooded swamp....
Finished the night with a rum and cigar.
Woke up Sunday at 04:30 (really it was 05:30 but I didn't set my watch back). Logged onto my phone to check the temp.....and it read: 48, feels like 42!! Just a smidge to cool, but we had a blast!
