Nobody should feel guilty or ashamed for abiding to the "guidelines" of the POS and unloading their refuse...that is after all the spirit of the POS exchange.

I know I've sent some really nice pieces with my yearly dregs and crap. Some of my POS pieces are really not POS. A lot of my pieces are types of knives I have absolutely no interest in and would rather pass them along to a new home where they'll be more appreciated. As to the really 'nicer' pieces I've sent along in past POS's, these are merely items I choose to re-home and pass along. I have so many knives, I don't know what to do with them. I'm going to be 74 in June, and my health is questionable on any given month. My wife has no interest in the knives I've accumulated / collected and wouldn't know what to do with them if I were no longer here. I've tried to sell many of them, but no bites or interest. So, I pick some nice pieces for the POS to pass along, for I am no longer attached to them and they're just collecting dust. I would rather re-home a knife, then to hold on to it with no desire to have it at home.

I try to make it special for my POS recipients. Something a bit different each time. I don't believe anyone is intentionally trying to make others feel guilty or lesser because they can't send 'nicer' pieces during POS time. Some can't and some can, but it's NOT obligatory to anyone to send out a nice piece or pieces. The main reason for the POS yearly event is to have fun with it, make new friends and thoroughly enjoy it for what it is.
