but they now hold a new world record for earliest delivery of a Christmas card
Thank you everyone for the feedback; I don’t always make the right decision but in this case I channeled WWBD
(what would Bryan do) and got it right

Good choice. I very much prefer a mirror finish on a knife like this.

Great update and decision!
Been so busy lately I hadn't even thought about the knife.

Thank you everyone for the overwhelming support - I’ve been in charge of large groups during my lifetime and it’s almost impossible to please everyone hence my thick skin and positive attitude. That sometime conflicts with my German, Irish and Mic Mac First Nation heritage but I’ve got coping mechanisms in place to combat those conflicts

it hadn’t always been that way but it is now!
I’ll give GEC a call next week to get the 411 and keep everyone updated here. My mother (Mic Mac) taught me the fine art of patience, it’s tough but it makes the end of rainbow much more rewarding. Thanks again everyone

Thanks Tom for the update. However I had to compensate for my sorrow by buying two more knives today. I'm telling her it's your fault.

Was just cruising by, thought I'd check in for an update. Good call on the mirror polish, Tom...Glad to see this one progressing as I think GEC has a lot of irons in the fire at once with 22s, 91s, 93s. It's been a great year for GEC stuff, IMO and they are ending 2024 with a bang...literally

Good Tuesday morning all. This morning I spoke to Joan Howard at GEC and she informs me that the blade polishing machinery that was down has now been repaired and is back in full operation. Joan will be checking on our production schedule with Bill Howard and before next Monday we'll know more. My best guess right now is that I will have our knives the second week of December.
While this is not an optimal time of the year to be shipping 150 boxes of precious knives, I have faith in our process and the systems that are in place and that all of our knives will safely arrive your homes before Christmas. This is not bad news, just the promised 411 on the situation.

Thanks for the update Tom! USPS has become so sketchy that I for one would be happy to pay for FedEx shipping if possible.

I've actually only had one knife package that I sent out be lost by Usps. Out of maybe 200 sent and...lets say roughly that many received, that's pretty good. It was insured for 85, they paid 93 to cover shipping. Which I found both admirable and hilarious.

I’m sorry but that’s not an option this year but we’ll take your suggestion into consideration when we debrief after this years sale.

Today's experience is a typical example of the poor USPS service. I had a knife ship Monday from another member in Illinois. The provided tracking number says that it should have arrived today. It didn't arrive today and the tracking number now shows that it's still in Illinois. USPS BLOWS GOATS.

without a doubt USPS has their efficiency challenges. Informed Delivery is a novel concept but their implementation of it is so bad that it can’t be trusted which is the whole reason it was developed. Open a case with them and it automatically closes in 72 hours to pad their response statistics. They are hamstrung in the worst way possible and a way forward isn’t happening anytime soon. Another American success story beaten down by a greedy Union and poor management.
